Is that the Formula Firehawk or the T/A version? The "lighter" Formula version is a real bad-***.

I wasn't. In fact when I started typing my post, yours hadn't even shown up yet. It took me 20 minutes to type my "novel" (phone interruptions, wife interruptions ) and hit the "send" button.

My post was directed to the general L population.

I believe it was the TA version, with 345 hp stock. Nice.

Kid next door went with me to Moroso with his 2000 ss automatic and clicked off a couple of 13.3's and one 13.2 with just an intake/filter mod.The automatics get to 60 even quicker than the 5 speeds with the traction control on. Iculokin is right. With practice he could have ran close to a 13 flat. Damn fast car!Slightly quicker than a stock L.

So looks like many of the SS Camaro's are running 13.3 or so in the 1/4 with auto's (much more consistant). The magazines have tested the autos as quick as the 6-speeds. Some stock '01-'02 L's are running 13.4s. Looks like we have some pretty good racing!! Good news is that a chip gives us 35hp/40tq, and a pulley, what, 15hp/40tq. Gotta love an extra 80tq for $600-$700!!!!!

I dynoed stock 361 rwhp but way more importantly 430 rwtq.
It is a mute subject to me because I am not stock anymore.Just did not see people recognizing the torque numbers.

you would have to catch a bad driver to beat one.....
Lord knows you'll never find one of those
My '00 L is stock and I ran door handle to door handle with a '01 6 spd Vette from a 5 mph roll to 85 mph. I am sure he would have walked me after 85, but from a standstill I would've jumped him by a car......er, truck length.............How is this possible you ask???? Because most people cannot drive, especially a manual trans.

I had a '99 SS and raced a few stock as well as slightly modded L's(exhaust, chip, filter) at the track. I never won by less than 8/10ths. My SS had intake, free mods, exhaust, shifter. It put down 320hp and 330tq in a 3500lbs car so they are powerful cars. If you get someone in a six speed that knows how to drive they will give you a darn good race. I wish I would have run into an L with a good driver and a pulley that would have been fun!

Most of them if it is a 98 or up (LS1) they will run around mid 13s if they are an auto, and a stick will run low 13s. A bunch of my friend have them. I live in Michigan and i personally think they are slow, if anyone lives out my way, they know about cruisin Gratiot and i smoke them all all night from a 2nd gear roll. My mods are, 90MAF, 5# lower pulley, chip and filter, beafed up trans, level 10 shift kit, and a 2600 stall converter. It's great cause most LS1 guys are ****y and my truck looks stock so i love to see the look on their faces when they get smoked, hehe

I am quite skeptical about 12 second stock SSs. especially being that my friend has a 2001 WS6 with a whisper lid, exhaust, intake, and some other goodies and the best he could pull at California Speedway was 13.8, and he is a very good driver. I dont think I saw a single SS/Z28 or TA/WS6 go into the 12s that day, even one on slicks with a 50 shot pulled a 13.1.

Hey SVT where do you live in Mi. I head down to Gratiot on the occasional Friday and have some fun after the show at Continental gets out. What year/color L you got, maybe I saw ya before.

yeah, that rwhp estimate was a little low... I rolled in at 366.1 and 443 bone stock on a hot motor

Not to add fuel to the fire, but the SS has the same horsepower as the corvette. What chevy did was just restrict the intake. A lot of the SS owners unrestrict the intake by a simple free mod and the car comes out faster than vettes. My friend had a 99' one and it ran low 13's . Unfortunatley, his ex-girlfreind now drives it....

She just plowed it into two cars and racked up a 7k repair bill
