LAKEWOOD/Trac-Bars?
LAKEWOOD/Trac Bars? Just wondering if anyone uses them? Had them on a couple of old HOT-ROD's and they weren't to bad for the money. Would they suit the application on my L?(UNIVERSAL)
E3LilE8Harv29, that's how I started my Truck-Traks business. I tore up a set of Lakewood traction bars.
The problem that I had, was with the fasteners. That's why I had 1/2", grade "5" U-bolts specially made for the Truck-Traks.
I understand 1BADTRK is using them now. Only time will tell, as races regularly with them.
I want to add, it wasn't the racing that did in my set, it was the daily street driving. I travel between 25-30,000 miles per year on the beaten streets of LA. It pulled the threads right off the fine thread U-bolts that Lakewood supplies. That's not a good situation if it's the front U-bolt. Mine was a rear. I was lucky I guess.
I've had Truck-Traks on my truck for about 33,000 miles now. I am torture testing them for all my customers.

The reason I ask is I have a new set hangin' in the garage from years ago. The U-bolts are to short anyhow and the feet dont touch the springs. The axel configuration is below the leaf on the L's and I would have to get spacers and U-bolts tailored.
I'm familliar with those. They are the Lakewood Universal bars. I have a set of those, also.
They are only 28" long, however. the spacers will have to be about 2" thick and built at different angles. The mounting points are at the wrong angle for Lightning leaf springs.
I found that having the aluminum adapors made, was going to cost more than the traction bars were worth. It would be more cost effective to remove the mounts and weld on new ones. Good Luck.

I like the look of your product! I was just wondering if the chromies were worth the effort. You have answered my question. How would we go about gettin' a set of yours up here to CANADA? I'm sure I could sell several sets of them for ya' too! Not much in the way of GOOD STUFF up here!

It kinda sux when you can remember like some of us old folks that the Lakewood Traction bars with a J-bolt was a trick setup. Even 9 second ProStocks were using them. Doesn't Holley own them now? And Holley is probably owned by some foreign country now.
Jay:
Those truck-traks look pretty cool. If the weather around here ever improves, I will be buying some.
Not a criticism in any way, but I would find it helpful to see some pics of the truck from a distance. To get an idea what the average joe would see looking at my truck with the bars on it.
