X plan through EAA: Does it work?

Hello all,
I plan on getting an L once I graduate from college next spring. I see how on the EAA website they say you have to be a member for a year before you can get an X plan PIN from them. So, if im going to do that, I'll need to go ahead and join now. Im just wondering, does getting an X plan this way really work? Have people actually done it? Is there a better way (assuming I don't work for ford or any ford-affiliated company)? thanks for any input!
kevin

p.s. anybody know of any dealers within a couple hundred miles of Northern VA/DC who would be willing to sell an L on X plan?

Yes, the EAA x-plan really works...you can get a PIN now that's good for a year...look at the end of my sig. for instructions.

There are lots of dealers in VA and MD that will sell under the X-Plan!!! I still have dealers bugging me to come in and pick out my truck. I ended up buying mine from Universal Ford in Richmond.

If you need any other info, shoot me an e-mail. TheHylandr@aol.com

It works

prior to the 1 year membership requirement, it was possible to join and have a PIN within 48 hours. $40 membership saved $3800.... and as an added bonus, a pretty cool magazine arrives each month.

Talking It better!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my pin last November, before the one-year requirement went into effect. Took them a couple days to process everything, and I was able to generate a PIN and printout of same over the internet. So far...so good. One piece of the puzzle in place.

As of now, I'm about 60 days away from doing the deal. Have three of the four SVT dealers in the Twin Cities who will deal on X Plan; wife is resigned to the situation; picking out accessories; snow melting; tension and anticipation building by the day.

As for the EAA, yeah, I get their mag in the mail, and even though I love old warbirds, I pass the mag on to a pilot friend who once belonged to the EAA. He thinks it's a hoot that I joined just to get a discount on a truck.

All-in-all, spending $40 for a $3500 price break is pretty easy to take. Look at it as an investment in your future happiness.

X Plan worked for me

I joined EAA and got my pin before they switched to the one year wait. I bought my 02 F-150 Supercrew King Ranch. I ordered it in Nov 01, last week, and picked it up Jan 31 02. All the dealers I talked to were more than willing to sell on X-Plan. I saved somewhere around 4000 to 4500.

The x-plan may work for me. I'll have one directly from Ford soon I hope. We are looking at a Mustang GT convertible premuim for my wife. Sticker is $29,800-ish, x-plan price is just a hair over $25,000, with the $1500 rebate on them now!!!!!
We are trying to decide to buy one now or wait, time will tell.

Thumbs up

As the others said, yes it does work. I joined last November and got a pin number last week. I'm picking up my new Supercrew (to go with the Lightning not replace it) on Wednesday. I saved over $4,000 on my new truck.
