Lightningrod Goes Down!!!!!!!!
Lightningrod Gets Dethroned At SDR on 3/23/02!!!
well not 100% true but i did beat his best time tonite. Corner carver i wish u woulda been there so we might could both have whipped him hahaha, J/K. It was a great night i met 2 goals i had set all in the same night. 1. being reaching the 7's in the 1/8th mile, the 2nd being able to run 12s every pass.
i ran 4 times and my first pass was a 12.568 @ 107.84 mph; my 2nd run was a 12.569 @ 108.20 ( talk bout consistent whew) mph but with very little spin and i fell 4 hundreths on my 60 ft from a 1.81 to a 1.85. hoosiers were working very well seemed everyone was having problems but me.
Then my best run yet 12.53x @ 107.79mph however i got to the booth and they said my timeslip never printed but i could go to the tower and they could tell me what i ran, so off i went to the tower with my cousin in a 99 mustang in which i had raced and spotted several links a 3.16 R/T to be exact on how much i spotted him (he beat me by only 2 links). so the guy calls me in and shows me my run, and my 1/8th mile time was a 7.997 1/8th. and i ran a 12.53x (cant remember exactly). i asked if he would tear it off the printer and he said he couldnt do that and i was like PLEASE!!!! so i give in and left BUT MY COUSIN WES WITNESSED IT DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dan and Ron had already given up and went home to there maker ( i think they said they had to do the dishes or something). my last pass i got a little too aggressive with the throttle and i ran a 12.650 @ 107.56mph.
so outta 4 runs my slowest was 12.65 goal number 2 accomplished.
on my first run i had ran a 8.017 1/8 almost but not quite, 2nd was an 8.036, then 3rd one was a 7.997 (just barely but i made it) so to end a great night 2 goals were met and now i can rest a little. until i come up with another one. would 11's be considered a goal or a dream???

Oh my!!!!! NICE run Rusty....just think if you could get into the 1.7s 60' time!!! Dan is gonna have to get after it now
I assume everyone else had traction problems. I didnt go tonight as I figured it would be too slick with the temps so low. Sounds like you did ok tho. Was it crowded? I figure probably not. Again, NICE run and congrats!!!!!! Thats haulin booty at the ice rink

Geezzzzzzzz!
All I got to say is "you better hope you can even find the 1/4 mile when you get my age, much less run a truck down it
!"
Btw, what are all those numbers in your post? They surely clutter up what should be a simple, concise recount of what happened last night without all those 'little' numbers--3 of us were there and 3 of us were in the 12s--'nuff said.
I know you ran the best you have ever run and I was glad I was there to witness it--well, all but the last one. Those Hoosiers and your burnout technique taught me a new lesson--whoooeee--you were hookin! I couldn't do a decent burnout and my ET Streets were slippin' all over the place. Rusty, no kiddin now--you and your L were awesome last night! Guys, he was "takin' names and kickin' a$$" at SDR.
Ron(Masterloggie) did as awell with two 12 sec runs--his first ever! He looked like he was pumped up with helium he was so light on his feet.
Was it crowded? 150 Junior Dragsters, their parents, trailors, 4x4s(to pull them up to staging), vendors, etc. Yea, it was crowded. Btw, there was a new WRX, 4 dr. sedan(Dale-young guy) there sprayin'. I ran him on my second run: my .543 r/t, 1.979-60', 8.222@87.01, and 12.737@108.58(PSP chip) to his .917 r/t, 1.848 60', 8.270@83.67, and 12.969@102.92. This was my new best et and mph at SDR--on my newly reburned PSP chip--and this was with my tires breaking loose!

my hoosiers are tubeless. u are gonna absolutely love them. they are hands down better than my nitto drags but i had the 315/35/17s, that small sidewall killed me. i never have been impressed with the m/t et streets but last night proved to me and alot of people a true slick is the way to go. just beware to any that has never run slicks they have a tendency to sway a bit. i was running 17 lbs of air in them too. i did my burnout manually in first and really watched the tach, i held it at 4000 rpms til i saw a good bit off smoke then i bumped it to 2nd and set there for a couple of seconds and eased off of the brake and pulled it out and staged. i left at 1200 rpms and i was off. everyone was slipping and sliding everywhere but me
There were 180 cars at sdr last night, plus jr. dragsters everywhere!!!!!
Dan u didnt get to see the turbo rx7 run did you. he ran a 11.90 @ like 117 or 118. the guy said he had $60,000!!!!!!!!!! in his car. it was very nice and very fast for a ricer.
i also spanked me a supra he only ran a 14.75 but at 110 mph, he had a 2.59 60 ft!!!!

Thanks for the heads up on the swaying with the Hooisers. This is my first experience with drag slicks. Hope I can keep all four feet on the ground at the 1320. Sounds like these tires really impressed you with hook up. Way to go.
Just got the e-mail & picture. Looks good, thanks.

Awesome run. Onion Boy? Geee last night you were the man.
Please do Dan and I a favor next time
Get there a little earlier so we can leave to go home and get our Honey Do's taken care of before midnight.
All kidding aside, Rusty "YOU DONE GOOD and made us Lightning owners proud!"

ron, thanks it means alot to me to be able to race with you fellows the way we do. i was equally as proud to only have 3 lightnings there and all 3 were in the 12s. great showing for svt.
OK Rusty:
Between you and CornerCarver, I guess I'm gonna have to do a "Wayne's World" and drop to my knees, bend at the waist with out-strtched arms, bowed head, and say "I am not worthy, I am not worthy."
It was a great night. You have earned your place in the middle Georgia, Lightning hierarchy--we'll all be chasin' you now--where's my JC Whitney catalog? I gotta get some custom mods now--LOL.
