Lean Code
Guys,
I went to the dyno today and right before i got there my check engine light came on so they scanned it and it came up a lean code on bank 1, i reset the battery to clear the computer and it went off but still comes on after about 30min. of driving with a chip in or without a chip and it still did it.I was driving normal cruising speeds the whole time when it comes on.What might be causing this code to come up and how to fix the problem. My air-fuel is still in the safe zone and my tips are nice and black!
Any info would be appreciated!
Matt

Lean codes can be caused by alot of things.
O2 sensor age/wear, injectors, fuel filters, fuel pumps, pressure regulators, MAF sensors, the list goes on. . .
Do you have an A/F ratio gage tapped into your factory sensor's SIG_RTN wire? If so, corrosion may be effecting your computer's signal/tuning. Don't laugh. . .I've seen this happen, and verified that indeed tapping into this wire can and will screw things up down the road. That's why I don't ever recommend people tapping this wire for the signal. Run another sensor if you want the A/F gage to avoid messing up your vehicles.
In the old days (EEC-IV) there was a cylinder balance test you could perform at home. I don't know if EEC-V with the OBD-II will let you perform it. I know the dealer techs can.
Good luck,
