Acetone?

Do you buy acetone at a hardware store or auto parts store? Might sound like a dumb question, but I work in a hospital all day, not that hip to auto things, I mean as far as do it yourself projects.

raid your wife's/girlfriends medicine cabinet....SERIOUSLY! That's what i did when i installed my Herculiner, to Acetone my bed i used nail polish remover, for my short bed, i used 1 bottle, thats it! Just do it in a well-ventilated area, or you will be on the "other side" of PT care! Be safe!- medic

You can get it at almost any hardware store. Look in the paint section, with the other thinners and solvents. I think a gallon is a few bucks.

Any hardware or paint store has it. I bought some today at Lowe's Hardware.

Boon52,

Are you removing the paint from your emblems? I just did mine and they look great! Thanks to CrazyFoo for the pics last night, it made my mind up to try it. No need to worry about the trucks paint, didn't hurt the paint at all and I got it all over the paint.

Chikenears - Glad to hear it doesn't mess up the truck's paint. That's been the only thing holding me back from doing this. I guess I need to make a stop to pick up some Acetone after work

It's no trouble at all. All you need is some Q-tips and clean rags.

This pic is reflecting my red toolbox in it.

I tried to keep reflections off of this one.

I got a visit from UPS today, half of my lowering kit.

That looks great on the silver truck chikenears, anybody got pictures of the paint removed off of emblems on a True Blue? Any opinions?

What happened to the shoelase factory? Probably couldn't keep up with the L habit, huh?

If you work in a hospital...just go down to the lab...go to the cytology dept and get some acetone from them. They surely will have some..them or the histology dept.

I bought some at wal-mart, they asked me for id, apparantly you have to be 18 to buy it. Caught me by surprise.

But anyways i did this on my friend's regular f150. How do you think it would look on a black truck. I got the chrome wheels so it would match

I haven't seen a blue with the emblem paint removed but I bet it would look really good! I bet I can see it real good when I get my free eye exam, Doc! LOL, couldn't resist. LOL

You know any L owner needs mod money. That means no free eye exams. I would be more than happy to charge you double though if you would like to contribute to my "need more L stuff fund". I just booked a trip to Bermuda today too so probably not a good day to get freebies. I figure the trip will be a good way for the wife to forget about me buying the L and all the things I want to do to the L.
