Help Needed, Doctor or Mechanic (Long)
Long story, sorry;
When bought my L, I swore that an old fart like me was not going to be goaded into any races or demonstrations of power. Just owning and driving the L would be enough, yeah, right. That lasted about two months.
I either have to get a surgeon to remove most of my right calf muscle or hire a mechanic to detune the L.
I was on my way to work and here comes a Mustang 5.0 LX, black light covers cutting through traffic like a bat, as we finish the interchange the road opens for about a mile with no cars ahead, 5:30 AM, as he gets on it to pass, I gas the L to play a little, he has the momentum and I think, there is no way I can keep up, but what the hell. Next thing I know is he is losing ground and his momentum didn't count for s***. I dust him off by 8 to 10 car lengths as we are running out of room. He scoots by traffic on the right shoulder and keeps going. I was very happy and very nervous looking in my mirrors for trouble.
Next month, another interchange and a Black 99 Cobra, I see open road and the game is on. I gave the L all she had and could only stay two lengths ahead up to 130. I started coasting down to a reasonable 75 and he sped by in the far right lane. I am very happy and nervous again. At that speed, it is silver bracelets and they take the L forever. I think twice should be enough. I am quitting, cold turkey, no more..... maybe ....
So Doc, are you out there? Detuners, help me anyone, Bueller, Bueller, anyone?

I know you recognize that the consequences of that kind of behavior can be catastrophic. I strongly recommend that you do it under more controlled circumstances. Check out http//solo2.com/ Next event is Hollywood Park on 4/20-21. Driver's school 5/11-12. Hope to see you there.
Well, I'm a pathologist, and you don't want to be a patient of mine!
Even I'm guilty of the occassional 'lead foot' syndrome from time to time; we're only human and sometimes we can't resist. The only sure fire therapy is 'abstinence', but everyone knows how effective that is...
Just use common sense and good judgement before you exercise your right calf muscle (too bad we can't work out the left muscle too with our Ls)

You have what they call....good old raw american muscle syndrome, GORAMS. You are doing what all motor heads have been doing for the past 50 years. With the introduction of all of the new supercharged, turbocharged, overpowered vehicles I think we are entering another musclecar, musclesuv, muscletruck era. I think that's why they are starting to crackdown more and more. The new Cobra, Lightning, SRT10, Z06, Trailblazer TT, etc. will be the topic of conversation everywhere just like the Shelby's and Z28's of yesteryear.
I agree with everyone above, I am 32 and I wrecked my '95 Lightning just being stupid. No one was hurt, didn't hit any other car or anything, just the ditch with a 2 foot dirt embankment. Sent the truck airborne, and literally blew my seat out the back of the cab. When everything stopped, I was almost looking straight up at the 3rd brakelight on the back of the cab. Again, I wasn't racing anyone, just being an idiot and going too fast around a curb with no one around. Also, one night I was in a truck with a friend of mine, and he too was being an idiot. He ran the truck into a ditch and totalled it. Wrecks can happen without racing, but racing is probably the main cause of L's being wrecked. There was a high school senior killed almost every year for the past 10 years in my town due to some sort of wreck. 1 definitely from street racing while most were from other causes. I STILL get on mine occasionally to show people what the truck will do, but I definitely try to do it carefully. There are still quite a few very rural roads around where I live. I just pick one of those to stretch the L's legs. Do the ocassional 0-40,50,70 WOT's but be careful!!! We all know what these things are capable of and my attitude to most other cars or drivers is "Look it up in the numbers and you will know if I can beat you or not!!!"
Just my .02 on the subject. I really am trying to behave myself on the street. I can't afford the trouble, nor the money it would take to pay for that kind of mistake.

Dr.....
Fire,
In analyzing your symptoms, a quick and cost effective cure for your woes/illness is to remove the blower belt.
Said action will castrate your truck and limit bitchslappings to hondas, toyotas, and the occasional road raged minivan...or something
OBTW, nice kills but be careful out there...
