Lightning CD Changer Studs
Lightning CD Changer Studs
Any tips for removing the (4) studs that hold the CD Changer in a Lightning? I'm assuming they are welded like the two studs that hold the storage bin.
Before I dig in tomorrow, I was wondering what some of you guys have done to remove them.
Thanks,
Wayne

Yes, Grab them with a Kleins straight up, push back and forth a few times and the weld will snap off. You won't have to remove any of the 3 tool box bolts for the Thunderform to fit. I just put some fender washers and nuts back on to cover the holes in the carpet.
Also, I drilled holes and used bolts for the Thunderform instead of the screws. A couple of 3/8" x 4" carriage bolts do a real nice job and would make it a lot harder for someone to steal the subs.

I just cut mine shorter with a Dremel last night. I left them long enough so that if I want to return the changer to the stock location, I can. They are still short enough not to rub the bottom of my Thunderform because the carpet and jute is pretty tall.
