Angry What a NIGHTMARE (tunners need help)

I just took my truck back to the dealer because i noticed that the little beather that releaves oil presure (PC something valve) was missing, and so that was fixed fast. Anyways. I had them inspect a cherping noise that i noticed was comming from the eaton. Anyways to make this short so that i can get back to crying (jk) They got a little isolation mic and could hear a "grinding" in the super charger. Now I JUST put on a 2lbs pulley about 3 days with Struck in AZ, whom has now put in 6 pulleys so i know that it was done right. Now i dont get it. I accidentally went there with my slicks in the back and my helmet in the passenger seat So the dealer said he knew i had been racing How come my super charger had to be the one that went ape ShEt with only a 2lb er when other people are running 2lbs uppers and 6lbs lowers.... i diver her real easy. There's the occational wwhhheee run but that's about it

I pray that they (DONT) make me pay for this

Mark

No offense but why would you go to the dealer with your slicks and helmet in the truck thats like going there with all your mods on. Im hoping that you took of the 2lb pulley. Also what exactly did they say was wrong with the blower? If the truck is running fine what makes them think that noise means something is wrong if they needed a microphone like you said to pick it up? I mean i went to the dealer when i was having problems with my truck and first they told me the engine is shot. Then they tell me the supercharger must have been spun faster causing the engine to blow. Then i got they engine isnt blown we dont know whats wrong with it so a ford tech is coming in to check. Well i was *****TING my pants when i heard that because i had to bring the truck in with the upper pulley because i had to cut the stock one to get it on and couldnt bring the truck in with no pulley. Well anyway they tried getting me to admit that i modded the truck and just played dumb saying what are you talking about . To make a long story short the tech couldnt find anything that was wrong and what it was was like a bad ground with the comp probably from when i was in an accident with the truck. So Engine wasnt blown like they first tell me. So what im trying to say is they arent the brightest at the dealer get a second opinion.

Roots style blowers are typical grindy or noise at idle anyway. At least that is my understanding

Go to a parts store and buy you a stethoscope and listen to your blower and all around it then go and listen to another L. I bet you that they both make that same awful noise when using the stethoscope. I know mine does and always has since day one with the stock pulley on it.

A little more noise form the blower when in Drive at idle is NORMAL after installing a 2# or bigger pulley. If it goes away in nuetral it is almost certianly due to the pulley...

It is described as either cavitation from the blower turning faster OR normal noise fromthe loss of the heavy rubber dampened stock lower pulley. Depends on who you ask. Get your tuner to open the idle bypass a little in your chip and the noise goes away almost ...

Doug...

How does slightly raising the idle reduce the noise? I have noticed that by using the accel pedal to slightly increase my idle with my foot on the brake. Mine has a noticable "grind" at idle when in gear.

Raising the idle just puts it at an RPM where it doesn't make the noise. The noise that is generated is very RPM specific. A few RPM higher or lower and its not apparent.

The noise you hear is normal with a pulley. I bet there is nothing wrong. Both of mine made the noise with a pulley upgrade at idle.

I just installed a 1" upper pulley and on start-up got all kinds of noise that wasn't there before. Sounds like the supercharger, or the waterpump. Really hard to tell where it's coming from. The good news is that after the truck warms up, the "noise" becomes a chirp and the rate of chirping starts to slow and then it stops altogether after about two miles of driving. I took the truck to my dealer, who is mod friendly. The mechanic knew right away what it was (at least he thinks he does), and ordered a new tensioner pulley and two idler pulleys. He noticed the wear patterns on the idler pulleys were uneven, and didn't like that. He's going to do the install tomorrow. Hopefully, that's it. JDM suggested a new belt, so we'll try that too.
