torque convertor ??'s

I have a rattle in my converter, I had the Trans rebuilt, probably about 2 to 3 thousand miles ago and the converter was just flushed. I heard this noise before but thought it was internal to the trans. well it is still there and happens at the top of the 1 2 shift and also when slowing down, got under there and put my ear to the bellhousing and it is defiantly in the toque converter so IM in the market for a new one.
I like the way the truck launches and performs in the shifting, I also tow and really don’t want to go to a aftermarket converter for 1000, I can get a stocker for 250..Does someone have a 750 dollar reason to get a aftermarket considering what I do with the truck.also has anyone have experiance whit this noise, could it have harmed the new trans, i am gonna have them drop the pan and look for foreign materials.

Also another complaint, IM in Philly for work, parked my truck at my mother in laws while IM gone.......anyone guess what happens next

Brother in law backed in to the truck, front bumper needs paint, I hope that is all, wife said only scuffed in the plastic area.....well see.....

ttt

Some one fimular with lockup converters, would just a fin possibly have come loose or one of the lockup clutches breaking apart, when I drop the Trans pan, and after only 2 to 3 thousand miles what would be a bad sign in the pan, I know the worst sign, pieces, but it is a new Trans and don’t want to get another new one anytime soon….

Well I can give you a few reasons's to spend the $750 now....

1- You will get WAY BETTER launchs & 60 foots...
2- You wont have to pull the tranny later if you decide to get a Stall Convertor
3- You will have a stronger convertor that is made for playing...
4- You could drop 2-3 tenths off your 1/4 mile time....

Thats enough reason's I would think.....

L in Detroit,
I have a Performance Industries Convertor I had in my truck. It was too tight for my set up. (Stalled about 1000 over stock) It's like new only had it in for 1000 miles or so. Once the computer locks the convertor the stall doesn't matter, so it won't effect towing. I'll hook you up for $300 if you come get it. I'll even give you a tour of the Top Secret HIGH RISK cave. LOL, E-Mail me.

This dork that I knew in highschool has a silver L with some stuff done, the kid is a total loser, nobody likes him, people are constantly vandalizing his truck..he calls me outts nowhere yesterday and tells me that he just bought a tc and that he paid 1200 for it, a tc for my truck would be at the most 400, is this kid talkin outta his **** or are tc's really that expensive for your trucks

That "dork" is not lying at all. Almost everywhere I have looked, they are around $900-$1000 new. Just like Jim said.....after fluid and install $1200 is cheap...........so now who is the dork. Go tell him you are sorry.

Good post topic. Why do torque converters cost so much and what is the difference performance (quarter mile) and drivability wise in the different stall speeds? I just dont know anything about converters and how they work or what they do. Anyone care to school me???
