Transmission question inside

I need to know if the transmission case for a lightning is the same as a power stroke engine. Buddy of mine got a power stroke into his scrap yard today and wants to know if I want the trans as a spare to build later. Does anyone know if it is the same case and bolt pattern? Any help is greatly appreciated.

The case is different, but most of the internals will work, I upgrade a few of the parts, if it's a 98 or newer you're almost halfway to a monster box. The direct is a 5 plate (L gets 4) the planets on a 98 and newer are the 6 gears, you need a balanced forward drum and use better plates. Teh accumulator needs to be recalibrated and the converter isn't a good one for an L the K factor is different. If it's cheap, get it and I can prolly set you up with a conversion.

So let me see if I understand. It's case will not work but I can use the internal parts out of the transmission to rebuild the current one in my truck? Price is not a problem, It's a rollover and he already has a buyer for the engine but they do not want the trans (the buyer has a manual trans) So the transmission is mine for 50.00 just to cover the cost of the guys pulling it out of the chassis. Let me know if I am understanding this correctly. What I was looking to do was build a complete new transmission and have it ready to swap in. That way the truck would not be down for a long time waiting for the current trans to be rebuilt. Plus after years of racing I like to have spare parts around. Thanks for the input on the question.
