what to clean PCM with?

i have scraped my pcm three times now and each time i swear that there couldn't be anymore goop on it. but i still have small problems from time to time. anyone have any suggestions on something that will break down the goop for easy removal?

i used a pencil eraser to get all the stuff off mine.. if you scrape too much, there is a chance that the contacts will get screwed up.

i lightly scraped the contacts, then used a green brillo pad, then a pencil eraser. followed up with rubbing alcohol. do it in the bright sunshine, you'll see stuff that you've missed before.

hope this helps,
brooks

Are you taping the chip on? If not be sure and do so.

I use a Jewlers screw driver, or a eye glass screwdriver to scrape the terminals. Then the little scotch btite pad, then a use a alcohol wipe to do a final cleaning.

I did EXACTLY as Don did above.. Worked perfect the first time. I took my pcm to the dining room table and took my time. Took about 15 or 20 minutes, but I only had to do it once. MAKE SURE YOU CLEAN BOTH SIDES OF THE CONTACT also used a couple of narrow strips of duct tape to hold the chip in...

hope this helps...............JR
