Buying used chips!?

I was hoping to get a variety of different opinions from some of you in buying used chips.

For those of you who have PURCHASED a used chip from someone else, were there any issues at all. Any problems with chip contacts, etc.

TUNERS: If I buy a used chip and send it to get a reburn because I don't know the type of program on it and if it's compatible with my truck mods or not, does the reburn technically bring the chip back to "good as new" status. Or is there anything that could be wrong with the chip that is "unfixable"? By buying a chip previously tuned by one of you, and i send it to you for reburning, do your warranties still apply?

thanks for the help as always,
JC

I have purchased a used chip. the wires were in good shape as were the contacts.

reburning removes all previous programs and reflashes the program file(s) in its place.

Could you expound on what you meant by a tuner warrantying the chip?

That part of my question didn't really make sense......I guess I was actually more concerned with whether or not the tuner would be able to not only reburn the program, but also make sure the chip is in good working shape and "physically" sound. If they determined that something were somewhat wrong with the physical makeup, could they repair it?

I would hate to buy a used chip, send it for a reburn, only to find out at that time that some of the contacts or wires were damaged and therefore the chip could not be reused.

Sorry about not being to clear before..............JC

Bought a JDM flip chip for $75 off classifieds.Works perfect.Since I got a pulley, air induction,exhaust,etc.. Jim did not even charge me for reburn. That is customer service.JDM will always get my business.
