Question 90MAF...Is it worth it?

Would it benefit me at all upgrading to a 90mm MAF? How much of a gain would i notice? I've heard some people say that the 90 MAF doesn't make that much difference unless used with a chip..Is this true? I'd hate to pat 300 dollars for a mod that's not that much beneficial

Depends on what year your truck is. If it's a 2001 or newer it wouldn't benefit you at all. 1999 & 2000 not much gain.

The word is if you install the factory 90mm (01-02) mass air without a chip it will be too lean at top end. More air than the 80mm but the computer gets a inaccurate figure. The C+L meter uses the factory electronics and just uses a 85mm opening to lean it out some for more power. I've got the stock 90mm with cone filter and chip which I like pretty well.

FWIW, from talking with JDM, the 90mm MAF will make a bigger difference if you are going to add pullies and/or nitrous. Otherwise a 90mm MAF+chip isn't going to show much improvement over a chip+filter combo for the '99 - '01 trucks.
