Used Lightning Prices/Atlanta, Ga Area
I picked out these prices from today's Auto Trader for the Metro Atlanta area. They represent both dealer and private owner advertisements and are the asking prices, not necessarily the actual prices one might have to pay. Condition and mileage were about normal for the various year models and none seemed to have more than normal equipment.
2001:
$27,510
29,971
30,995
28,995
27,995
26,500
2000:
$22,900
1999:
$23,995
24,000
21,500
24,300
There were also several HD F-150s for sale and based on retail price year for year versus the asking price today, the Lightnings seemed to retain a fair bit more value.
My 1999 comes off lease in less than two months and it has a residual value of ~ $16,000 which is what I could buy it for if I wished. I cannot explain why the lone 2000 Lightning has such a low price ( description seemed to indicate a clean low mileage truck) but I am very pleased by the asking prices for 1999 models.
As a mind exercise for my friends out there, what should I do?
Sell it for ~ $22,000 and use the $6000 difference to buy something else or just turn it in and get another one or buy Moby for the residual price? Bear in mind that I have about $3,000 in extras on the truck which the dealer will most surely not consider when/if I trade it in for a 2002 something or another.
Exercise your minds.

Yo Bill!
Have tried to find Hobbytown several times in Cobb Place SC--both up the hill and opposite direction, but no luck. How about specific directions from Barret & 75? As for current truck, I'd get xplan form to be submitted before 3/31 and use $6000+ toward buying a new one. We both are small business owners and should know something about finance, but IMHO leasing doesn't make sense, even when deducting for business. I write off my L and Supra both purchased. I used to lease, but not anymore. If you want to send private email jkeithbrown@msn.com Would like to see your truck in person, especially to hear Bassani.
Morning Jake:
Take a left at the exit ramp going west. Go three lights; you will see a Chucky Cheese on the right. Turn right and follow access road till you see the old AMC 8 Theatre which now has a huge HobbyTown USA sign on it. Tel. is 770-426-8800.
Moby looks really grungy now. Cut another front tire down and am running the spare. Still trying to figure out whether to buy or not and if not will not blow another grand or so on a new set of rubber. The two rears are still 50%, but the fronts were worn pretty badly due to too low inflation (my fault).
Come on by and we can discuss lease vs. buy options.

Hi Bill!
thanks for directions. If I remember correctly, you're there wed.-Sat? Would call around to used tire places. they can tell you if they have F1's for Moby. Think I found a match for Jeep Gr. Cher. at some place on Atlanta Rd. in Smyrna. will bring you copy of forms to get xplan pin before 3/31. You may email jkeithbrown@msn.com if you wish.
