Can you get a hole in your windshield filled?

Can you get a hole in your windshield filled?

had a rock gimme a dingy on the way to florida, one of those tiny pinholes, i thought i had heard those can now be filled in somehow

any insights?

any of the auto-glass windshield companies, will come out to your shop and fill it, so that it doesn't start to travel. it's a neat deal, where they inject epoxy into the ding, and hit it with a special light to cure it. i have a few that are barely visable. usually your insurance will pay for the fix 100%, so that it doesn't cost them a windshield replacement

Just had that done a couple of weeks ago to the RACECAV. The guy drilled a small hole in the center of the chip and filled it with the epoxy. Hasn't spread and State Farm paid the 39 bucks.

FWIW a new windshield "only" costs about $500. Unfortunately I had to get a new one after a close encounter with a rock. I didn't get lucky enough to do the epoxy fix. But this does seem sort of cheap for a new windshiled (installed).
