I am going through gas like it is water. The weather has been nothing but sunshine for about two weeks and is supposed to stay the same for a while. Anyway, the roads in town are pretty clear, just a little slick at the stop lights. The DMV has so many rocks down at the intersections, I creep through anyway. The highways are dry and clear up here. I have been driving really fast... everywhere... all the time... with no problems of getting traction. I am not sure how the roads are in Denali and around Cantwell. The soonest I have driven to Anchorage was early May and the roads were great.

Ohh, and the temperature is still cold. We are about -10 when I leave for work but it gets up to the twenties by the drive home. Lots of daylight too, about 12 hours of it this far north.

Starting this weekend is the World Ice Art Championships. If you have never been, then they are really cool (No pun intended). I believe the competition is Sunday night and then they are out until they melt.

Let me know if you are coming up for sure and we can get together and race (You'll win... I got 300lbs of sandbags in the bed and I have seen your mods.) Shoot me an email.

A race between us could be even right now I still have not pulled my engine yet and beeffed it up. Waiting for pistons, then I will put the chip and pulley back in. I don't want to blow up another stock engine LoL. And those Ice carvings are neat I have done alot of work in Fairbanks, mostly at Eilson AFB and Fort Wainwright.

Well, each time you are doing work on Eielson, go ahead and watch for the L during the summer months. It'll be there and so will I. My wife and I are both Staff Sargeants in the Air Force.

The Ice Sculpture contest is unbelievable. Drove around the area one night, castles, disney scenes, what they do with that ice is pretty amazing. Found a shot, although there were many that made this seem tame.

I remember that one from last year!! You're right, though. There are other ones that really make that one look pathetic. It is amazing what some of these sculpters can do with ice. We will probably go on Saturday. All the sculpters probably won't be finished but it is really neat to see how they carve. They use everything from chain saws to hair dryers. If I had a talent of carving ice then I would most definately carve out my L in front of the house.
