Why does Racer X have a big M on his chest? Is that a sponsor?

 

HighRisk- Were you been? Haven't seen you post for a while. So how is the L coming along?

 

Originally, this was a Japanese cartoon. I don't know all of the original (Japanese) character names, but the family name is Mifune, hence the big 'M' on the car. All of the family characters had their initials on their shirts. Speed's Japanese name was 'Go', hence the G on his shirt. I could do some research and find out the other characters' Japanese names. I used to watch the series all the time when I was a kid. (A younger kid, I mean.) I think I have seen all of them. Love the sound of that car. BTW, there is a guy somewhere here in Dallas that has a full-sized, street-legal replica of the Mach V. I have only seen him once on Greenville Ave. It was totally cool. Was driving the BMW and couldn't catch him with all the traffic. Wish I could get pics...

But I can be wrong here, that cartoon is one of my favs, but it was before my time.
