all i can say is that they say it only does high 12's in the 1/4

now with all the extra weight of a v10 i this this is probably right

funny thing is that with an extra 1k we are in the mid 12's and we aren't paying 40k for the engine alone let alone 65+

Probleminfected, the other day I read that the V10 is actually lighter than their V8 since its aluminum. Of course I dont care either way, I'm just waiting to kill one on the street. Man I wish they would hurry up and make this.

Same old Dodge steal everything from Viper and put a truck body on top,Always original, they might as well call it viper,it has viper 10 on the hood ,viper tranny, viper on the brake calipers, just like the 80's when they put the 2.2 motor in EVERYTHING they made.

Cool

I think like the Black 99 Lightning was "Car of the Year" in Car & Driver Magazine. Maybe even like build #955 or something. Pretty funny that they would be laughing at a truck that can still kick the a$$ of 90% of the high-brow cars they review in there own mag.

I would hope that everyone in the Lightning community would welcome the SRT-10 with open arms. I am personally tired of beating up on lesser vehicles. It would really be sweet to be an underdog for a change...............or something.

Even with all the horse power and the times they will supposedly run......Have you seen the interior?? All I can say is trucks with stick shifts look like ****!!!!!! The L should have no problems with th SRT because you have to be a pretty damn good driver to get a truck to launch and with a stick it makes it that much more difficult

I think that most of the time in magazines when they test cars and trucks, the driver isnt all that good, look at some of the numbers that you see in magazines, I've seen numbers for 99-00 Ls as high as 14.5, that is sick, and for any L to run that slow it would have to be terrible weather, I know that most of you run 13s mid to high stock, but you see sick crap like that in the mags sometimes, I had a magazine that by bro bought, I thihnk it was sport truck, but the had a Lightning shootout, and they had these modded Ls with chips filters NOS, etc. and werent even breaking into the 12s, like I know most of you do, I personally dont think that the magazine guys know how to drive, just like for my truck, I know R/Ts suck right, but I saw in magazine times like 16.5 in the 1/4, I didnt even know how the hel to drive mine when i first got it and its a cc, and I ran a 15.2,and my year, the 1999 was supposed to be the slowest year..the only thing i can saw is we'll see what that thing runs when it comes out..

I'm just wondering how many will be running to the Viper tuners, like Doug Levin (superchargers) and Hennesey (if he's still in business). Imagine that truck with 800+ horsepower...won't mean anything unless they get lots of traction though!

Question

I still haven't figured out why they call the SRT-10 competition for the Lightning anyway. With the projected pricetag if they say that's competition then I think its safe to say the Lightning is competition for the Dogkota.

I laught at the SRT/10,,, ITS! the joke.

Hmmm.... I don’t get it. A stock Viper with a very very very good drive, say……. John Hennessey, that probably spends more time in these cars at the strip then anyone on earth, can run 12.2?? But he is also in ALOT of trouble. Anyways,,,, the Viper weights... 3500lbs?? Just a rough estimate. Add another 3000lbs??, if my math serves me right, that equals 6500lbs, which is 150lbs shy of the Dodge Ram short bed standard cab pickup. I believe the SRT/10 is a short bed standard cab pickup? Yes it is. If a viper weighted 6500lbs, I don’t think it would be pulling low 12’s in the quarter mile, not even 13’s. Probably mid 14’s?? Oh man, I’m guessing that the srt/10 will do the same?? Our L’s are around 5200lbs??? I’m guessing that is…. 1300lbs lighter then the SRT/10?? I really am not afraid of this bad BOG with its 6speed. No one will be able to drive it right on the street. It costs 40k plus. It doesn’t look as good as our L’s. It’s slower.

Angry

For the kind of money Dodge will charge for that truck,SVT could build a 4x4 truck on factory mudders that would smoke anything Dodge could build.I don't give a damn what anyone says Dodge has;does;and always will suck.Period! That POS is the mayor of "Suckville".I can't stand to see the kind of publicity those mullet wrapper magazines give that bottom-feeding company.Everything Chrysler builds is overpriced, overrated and under acheiving. If you want to build cheap junk and sell it to dumbass tightwads, thats one thing. But when you pretend to build quality and performance, then charge three times what it's worth, the rest of us should kick their *** for selling their crap to morons too stupid to know better. It's like picking on the handicapped.

Please forgive me as I digress............
