Question Fog Lights W/ Parking Lights? Possible???

Morning all, wanna know if its possible to run my fog lights with only the PARKING lights on...seems there is something in the switch to prevent this, or is the wiring in such a way to prevent this? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Medic,

If you don't want to do any filing on your switch, just splice the brown and yellow wires together (#2 and #12 wires if I remember correctly for the 2001) then, the fogs will be on anytime the parks are on. This is what I did, and I love it. I always run my fogs, therefore this was the exact fix I wanted.

Medic,
yes this possible.
check out performanceresearchonline.com
Terry has a kit that replaces the factory one- I believe he does it on an exchange basis. (no wiring- just plug and go)

They should be the same... I've had other F-150 (non-Lightning) owners perform the mod without incident...

What did you do and what happened?

I asked this on a previous thread, but now I can't find the thread.....anyways, here goes:

When you say, splice the #2 and #12 wires together, do you mean
1.)to pull them out of their existing termination point on the wiring harness and just splice the 2 wires together without reinserting into the wiring harness, OR do you mean

2.)to splice the two together AND THEN insert them back into one of the slots you just vacated in the harness. If this is the case, which slot do you use, the #2 or the #12 slot.

After clarifying which case it is, please let me know what type of connector you used. This has to be a very cheap mod , and looks absolutely BADAZZ!!!!

Thanks,
JC

JC,
you don't pull any wires out of anything. Go to the auto parts store and get #14-#18 quick splice, it's blue(see photo in above post). Pull switch from dash and just "connect the 2 wires together with the splice", very simple...no cutting, pulling or splicing period.....just clamps over brown and yellow wires

if you want the lights to come on anytime the parking lights are, then you want to splice 5 and 12 together.

So what cable do i splice together #5 and #12 or #2 and #12.

All i want is for the foglights to come on all the time the parking lights are on.

Fog Lights on all the time with Parking Lights= #5 & #12, but i recommend the mod., not very hard, and quick to do...i chose the mod. because i am sure i would run into a time where i only wanted my parking lights onand not my fog lights too..i have slowly become a master of this foglight thing!- medic
