ATTN: jlp header users questions

i just took the truck from the mechanic and drove it to the muffler shop but my question is this. i believe there are 4 threaded holes in these headers i assume for ozygen sensors and also 2 in the cat pipe. these trucks do not have 6 sensors do they???? am i missing something? i told the muffler shop to just plug the remaining hole with a some sort of cap that u can screw into it. i thought there were only 4 sensors is there 6 or what????

Rusty,
There should be 2 plugs that came in a box with your bolts, use those plugs to put in your holes in the primary section!

Rusty,
You need some kind of plug to put in your primary tubes since you never received them! Check to see if you have your grade 8 bolts included in your header kit if not you can get them at a hardware store. Also you should have two 21/2 inch collector gaskets included, again if not go to napa and get the better ones for around $20.00 You will need to lengthen your o2 sensors as well to make them fit into the collectors! Have you started the install yet on your longtubes, make sure you keep everyone posted on your progress! Good luck!

matt the install is finished on the headers. the same header bolts as i used in the bassanis were put back in. but how the heck do u extend the o2 sensors its gonna be middle of next week when johnny gets back. ill find some sort of plug ill make something work. but i never got o2 extenders, header bolts, or plugs. the only thing i received other than headers were the collector gaskets and bolts to go with those. until i get the extenders for the o2 sensors what would happen if they were put in the primary tubes instead of the rearward spot?

p.s. it cost me 300 bucks for the install. the mechanic had cuts on his hands, and face. he said it was a real bi%$^. and i knew him too. he said if it was anyone else it woulda been 400 or 450 to do. steering was taken off and he said getting the header bolts started was immortal hell. it took from 7- round 230 to do. and he is an excellent mechanic too. he told me he hoped that was the last set i put on(he also put my bassanis on).

Rusty:

I wish you hadn't used the word "date" !--LOL

Why don't you leave the O2s out altogeather? Then it will be really loud .

Btw, JDM's headers come with O2 extended sensors. Maybe give him a call--I think(d/k) that he'll sell you just the extenders.

Rusty,
Go ahead and put the o2 sensors in the primaries for now you will be fine but either have your existing wires lengthened or purchase the harness because the best way is to have them in the collectors!

Hey Rusty,

Take a look in a MM&FF Magazine. I've been told that there is a company that sells extended 02 sensor connectors in the magazine. See if you can find it and I'll look also, and post ASAP, if I find it.

Also, Check with your local dealer tomorrow (Fri), they have the wires to extend them for you.
