I did the same install a few weeks ago and was told by someone on here to use the black wire. I suppose it was the right one, my meter is constantly moving.

Two things:

A. Use the black wire.

B. Make sure you are hooking onto the FRONT O2 sensor, not the rear one.

Personally, I wouldn't tap into the lines used by the computer.
I ran my own line to a one wire sensor I put in myself. But that's just me.

Good luck man!

The resistance is so tiny on the O2 sensors that I personally think it's a good idea in install ur own sensor specifically for the gauge, like WrongDayJ. Keeps computer from overcompensating due to a change in sensor resistance...

Just so u know, the a/f guage is only accurit at 80% or geater throttle. So it doesnt really matter that much what it say when ur just putting around.

Question

I am stuck between confusion and laughter.

The computer monitors the A/F ratio whenever it's not
warming up, or in WOT. (this means pretty much all the time)

I'm not sure if this is what you were trying to say or not.

Anyway. . .the Bosch O2 sensor for an 88 tempo costs about $18. The O2 sensor bung from Summit (holley part) was about $7.

Later,
