Stock WS6

do any of you guys know what these run? sorry to say, but i am really considering either a cobra or a 99-00 ws6 to lower my payments. What times do they run stock (the ws6)....easy to mod?

Thanks

Bill

Maybe the payments are killing you because you spent $3000 for wheels/tires and prolly $2000+ on paint

3500 for paint and 3000 for rims - but that was not me. I knew the guy who had it before me and it had 5000 miles on it when i got it

BTW - The payment is not killing me, I afford what I want - I just thought I might want to lower it to be able to afford different things.

I DO NOT NEED SMARTA$$ REMARKS ABOUT MY TRUCK I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT STOCK WS6's RUN AND PEOPLE THAT KNOW ABOUT THEM WHAT THEY THINK.

Gotta agree with Master of Pain on that one! Look in the JEGS or Summit books. There doesn't apear to be many bolt on mods (compared to a mustang or L). On the other hand, if you have money, you can make anything fast.

so i am guessing for the same amount of money that a 1999 (or so) Cobra would be the way to go? ......Didn't they have problems with the 99 cobras?

Didn't those things make, like, 320hp! That's what Nasser's people said.

Virtually the same price new, so similar used, I'm guessing. They're quick cars. Every brand has their own issues when it comes to the dragstrip. A stock WS6 kicks stock Cobra *** all over the place. A modded Cobra is easier to do, and will kick Chevy *** all over the place.

Never an easy answer. I for one really like the looks of WS6's, but it's hard to find a lot of support for that on a Ford Truck board. Go figure.

Biggest problem the 99's had were that they were very underpowered. NON of them dynoed anywhere near what Ford stated the power should be at the crank.

BTW.....I was not giving you a hard time about your wheels/paint.....just being a smart-***. It is your money spend it however you want

I'm pretty certain the LS-1 Camaro's and Trans Am's run low 13's to high 12's stock.

Even cheaper is non WS-6 Trans Am or non SS Camaro, they run virtually identical 1/4mile times as the SS and WS-6. The SS and WS-6 only run faster in the quarter mile because of the ram air.

LS-1 = 320hp to 335 hp depending on the year and options

The F-body stock will crush a stock Cobra any day any time. It is however much cheaper to modify a Cobra, there are more aftermarket choices out there.

stay away !!!!!! from a 1999 Cobra they had horsepower issues and did not make the advertised 320hp. The cars were recalled and new Cobras were not produced for I think close to a year as they played catch up.

I would go with a LS1 then, even though everybody and there mother has one!

My buddy has a 97 LT1, the cars motor has never been touched with anything other then basic bolt on's. We added a 180 shot nitrous dry kit, fuel pressure regulator and bigger 255lph fuel pump to the car. He's also got a full long tube header exhaust.

On slicks and front runners the car goes 11.40's all day long. Its a six speed too, lots of fun!

This year he's pulling the heads and having them ported and polished, they said expect a good 100hp gain from the heads! I think its kinda hard to believe but for 2400 bucks, they better get that much!

If anything the LS1 motors are far better and you'll go faster then that.
