Stock WS6
Sorry, soap, but I've got to actually agree. They do run low 13s and high 12s stock. I was there and got the timeslips. Those F-bodies are pretty quick right out of the box. It's actually a shame they're discontinuing them, IMO.

BTW - The payment is not killing me, I afford what I want - I just thought I might want to lower it to be able to afford different things.
I DO NOT NEED SMARTA$$ REMARKS ABOUT MY TRUCK I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT STOCK WS6's RUN AND PEOPLE THAT KNOW ABOUT THEM WHAT THEY THINK.

well, i'll have to add my oppinion to this. i had a 96 ws6 with many mods, and that car was a rocket, from driving both of them that car i believe would beat a lightly modded L,BUT I WOULD NEVER BUY AN OIL LEAKING,RATTLING PIECE OF $### GM AGAIN!
Some people on this forum are blind and/or cluless. LS1s are very fast cars. There are a lot of local people here who are running low 12s on Nittos and a couple bolt ons (whisper lid, torque converter, free mods). You can drive a new ws6 off the dealers lot and go directly to the drag strip and click off a low 13.
Change the heads and cam, and you've got yourself an 11-second car.
The auto tranny LS1s ET amazingly well!

It's true that LS1 powered F-Bodies will burn hi-12's / low 13s in stock trim. I just sold my 98 Trans Am WS-6 to get into my new L. Here it is: 98 TA WS6
There are also ALOT more F-Body aftermarket parts than L parts and the prices seem comparable.
Here are some good LS1 F-Body boards

UPDATE!
After a fun-filled 3 long days of playing around in everything imaginable I have finally come to a very important conclusion.
NOTHING BEATS THE L.
He stays.
(PS ALL OF YOU THAT EMAILED ME WANTING TO BUY MY PARTS.....SORRY

half true
Just ha to correct a half truth regaring an earlier post about the 99 cobra . The were not putting out the avertised power but they fixed anyones brought in to the dealer. THey did better exhaust, honed or polished the intake manifold, and reprogramed the computer. That pretty much fixed them all. There is no need to be afraid of a 99 Cobra any more than other years.
Camaros and Trans-Ams
"I'm pretty certain the LS-1 Camaro's and Trans Am's run low 13's to high 12's stock."
I have an article from the April/May 1997 Muscle Car Review (page 48) that has a Lingenfelter Performance modified Hurst/Firebird WS6 running 12.99s @ 103.11. The HP was bumped from 305 to 350 with advanced head work, 1.6:1 roller rockers, K&N filter, ported intake, modified throttle body, and Borla exhaust.
Unless the newer model engines come from the factory with these add-ons, I seriously doubt they're running 12's in stock trim. Mid-13s sounds more likely.

My roomate has a 2001 WS6 bone stock, and he ran off a 13.79 here in SoCal, so I wouldnt be surprised at all to hear about very low 13's on the east coast (better gas, better air, better track prep).
Just an FYI for you. The increased insurance cost going from a Lightning to a V-8 Camaro/Firebird or Mustang GT/Cobra will more than offset any decrease in payment.
As far as overall cost are concerned, you will come out on the losing end big time, once you factor in insurance costs, when going from the Lightning to any other performance car.
