Question what kind of stang is this?

hey i was at the ford dealership tonight...checking to see if they still had a silver 02L and i saw a silver 01 mustang called a "steeda"...i never heard of this and was wonderin in what relation HP wise is to the cobra or saleen?..it was a sweet lookin car...had carbon fiber dash...billet gas lid(with the pony engraved on it) and a small blue circle(kinda like the blue oval) on the rear pass side that had an "S" inside for steeda? they were askin 27k and some change for it...2 more weeks till my red 02 L gets here

It probly only has a shifter, exhaust, air filter, and a bunch of cosmetic stuff. Cobra would blow it away and a supercharged 281 would blow it away too. Steedsa look pretty good but skimp on the engine, most of the time. I suppose if you get every performance part they sell for the mustang it will be pretty quick.
who knows?

Skimp on Performance?

Just about every "TUNER WAR" that Motor Trend or Car & Driver has done has had the STEEDA come out on top performance wise. SALEEN builds beautiful cars, STEEDA "skimps" on uneccessary "look" items and goes for performance. Sure, they build entry level cars just like EVERYONE does, but their "Q" car was a 351/supercharged powered car. And they still build 400hp Top of the Line Models.

My 93 5th Anniversarry STEEDA ran 12.44@117mph with Catalytic Converters on 255/40/17 BFG Comp T/As.........BEFORE Drag Radials existed. AND this was a car with NO CAM upgrade or Computer upgrade.

Don't forget the 1995 STEEDA COBRA R was the FIRST Mustang to win an IMSA Race in like 30+ years. Saleen, Kenny Brown and Roush were unable to.

Just like Saleen and Rousch, Steeda offers various performance levels. From your basic appearance items, to suspension upgrades, all the way to a full-blown performance setup. And just like Saleen and Rousch, Steeda Mustangs are VERY PRICEY for what you get (IMO). Based on the asking price of the one you saw (if it was New), I'm betting the farm that it was the basic cosmetic package. If you wanna look fast, that's not a bad way to go. If you wanna BE fast....I'd look elsewhere (or for a higher level Steeda car).

I agree 100%. Those companies mark up their stuff up way too much. Plus, Saleen's suspension parts are laughed at by people who actually road race their cars. You're paying a premium for the name, which in my mind, is not worth it.
