A moment of Silence...
Let's all take a moment of silence...
Pro-5.0 Racer Steve Grebeck died today at FFW when he was racing Bill Rimmer, and Steve hit the wall on the big end. The car exploded and then landed on Rimmers car. Steve died on the spot, and Bill Rimmer is in serous condition.
Not the way to start the 2002 racing season.

Its never good to hear things like this but it does remind me how dangerous it can be. I'm kinda slack sometimes on the safety aspect of it all. After seeing ICULOKN lose his driveshaft and how the safety loop saved a whole lot of damage, I now have a loop. Now hearing this I'm going to make sure my truck is as safe as possible. Of course my prayers are with the family and friends also. Mike
I left there a couple of hours ago. Was he actually prnounced dead? They hadn't said anything by the time I left (I saw it, and saw Steve put into the helicopter, it didnt look good), but I was praying all the way home that I would log on, and see that somehow he was going to make it.
So sad. Pray for his family. Especially the young woman, who i think was his wife that had to watch.
Be safe all.

03/03/2002 Pro 5.0 great, Steve Grebeck, dies in fiery crash during the Orlando Fun Ford Weekend event
During elimination's today at the Fun Ford Weekend 2002 season opener in Orlando, Florida (The Spring Break Shootout) well known Pro 5.0 racer, Steve Grebeck, was killed during elimination's. Mr. Grebeck, who was in the right lane, was pitted against another well known Pro 5.0 personality, Bill Rimmer, who was in the left lane. During the run, about 1000 feet out, Steve Grebeck's car suddenly veered to the left and shot across the track and went air born in front of Bill Rimmer's Pro 5.0 car. Rimmer's car hit Grebeck's race car at over 200 MPH, causing a huge fire ball and Grebeck's car to be hurled 15 to 20 feet into the air nose up. Amazingly, Rimmer's car then crossed the finish line slidding and still light the time boards with a 7.19 elapsed time.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, but we are told that Steve Grebeck was already dead from massive head and bodily injuries. Regardless, Mr. Grebeck was air lifted to the hospital, while Bill Rimmer was not seriously injured.
At this time, the track has been shut down and the event has been canceled. This is due to Florida state investigators being brought in to investigate this tragic accident. It was announced that the event will be finished next month during the Fun Ford Weekend event in Commerce, Georgia. We will keep everyone updated to further information as it becomes available.
