Fix for seat problems?

Hello,
Just got rid of my 96 cobra and went test driving a couple 99L's. I noticed that the seats look really flat and when I was reading the FAQ's I noticed that this was a problem with 99Ls. There wasn't any real solution on the FAQs page except some people had the dealer replace the foam. Is this only a problem on the 99's? I am not sure if it is still under warranty or not, but was wondering if I should look for a 2000 or 2001. Anybody have any problems with these?

Thanks
Brad

I had the same problem in my 2000. Ford re-upholstered the seats under warranty, no problems.

Thanks for the response guys. Anybody have any problems with the 01 seats? Anything else I should look for on a 99-00 except the intercooler recall?

Thanks again

I think the 01 has the same seat problem but easily fixed, Mostly what I have seen with the 01 is the spark plug problem with them backing out and stripping the head out. No other real big problems with my 00 here. They had some problems with the 99 leaking oil due to a bad block mold my brother had to get a new motor in his 99 but they replaced it under warranty no other problems since. The 99 also had a problem with the door cracking next to the window!!

My 01' has the seat problem, where the bar rips through the pads and seat covers. As soon as I get a chance, I plan on having it fixed under warranty.

Also, try getting ahold of WHAT04, he had an awesome post of how he fixed he fixed his seats, including pictures!

Here's my photo album showing the pictures. I'd rather the search function worked rather than write out the description again.

By the way, the seat wire in question still remains in the '02's.

I have a friend who owns a auto seat cover place. He glues a peice of Burlap to the underside of the foam where the bar sits.
He told me that should keep the bar from pushing through the foam.

Well a tire place ripped my seat cover this fall when doing a allignment. They paid to get me a new cover and for the labor. When my friend replaced the cover he checked the burlap, and it was holding perfect after 26,000 miles.
