Met up with a xjs v12 jag this morning driving like a maniac did not get a chance to run him. Was wondering how fast the v12s are looked to be about 5-10 years old. What do you guys think any worries?
No worries if it's that old. The newer XJR is pretty quick for its weight, but nothing the Lightning can't handle. The XKR will probably beat a stock Lightning, unless you have the usual bolt-ons.

They are great cars my Dad used to have a V12 XJS.
It is a touring car, they are quick, handle very nice, and about the smoothest motor, but you will blow it away.
If you think Chicks dig the L you should see what they will do for a V12 Jag convertable.

Old or new, you'd smoke him.
I easily took a brand new silver convertible Jag with my unmodified '01 Cobra, to the embarassment of the guys wife (twice even, he couldnt believe the first one). My Lightning is definitely quicker than my Cobra was, so it would be fairly humiliating.

2Cool, don't make the mistake of racing an XKR convertible or coupe. The regular XK8's are pretty tame, but the XKR will surprise you with it's supercharged 32V V8 (370 hp). 13.5's all day long (and the XKR Silverstone will do 13.2 I believe). Car&Driver also mentioned the XKR as 10Best in 2001 for top gear acceleration. Do not tangle with one from a roll!
Unless you have some mods up your sleeve of course!

12 cylinder Jags aren't that quick. "Refined power" is what it's all about. If memory serves me, I think they're 282 hp.
My dad has a '91 XJS Convertible with 25,000 miles. I drove it from my parent's home in Michigan to their new place in Florida last May. Great cruise. Dropped the top about 10 miles south of Toledo and didn't put it back up until we arrived at Ormond Beach. The car gets a lot of looks.

The only thing you have to watch for is if he did a big block Chevy conversion on it. I am currently doing a small block conversion on an '82 XJ6. . .it's shaping up to be a cool vehicle. Other than that, let him have it.
