Traction Bar Axle Mounting?

I'm about to mount my traction bars and I have a question regarding the change from stock spring /axle mounts. I have some Caltracs axle mounts I am going to install and was wondering if there is any special precautions I must take when removing the stock spring hangers and replacing them with the new. If you've done this you know it is a different configuration than stock. Will there be any movement when I remove the old? Will I need to clamp anything down? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Hasn't anyone out there disconnected the clamps that hold the leaf springs to the rear axle??? Just need to know if I need to clamp them together while I install the new clamps and mounts for the Traction Bars. Thanks........

If they are the same Cal Tracs that I used to have, you have to remove the springs and press out the front bushings and replace them with the metal bushings that come with the Cal Tracs.

Then you have to gring the middle spring so all three leafs it flush, you have to do this so the front brackets will move freely.

It isn't the easiest job, best to bring the springs to a shop with a press.

Did you get the Lightning specific Cal Tracs??

Hey Don, how ya doin? Thanks for the reply. I did get the Lightning specific Caltracs, but they gave me some mis information when they told me they'd work with the Bassani! Jim D. and I got 'em about the same time and we were both a bit pissed about it! Anyway, I've been experimenting with different setups that don't use anything but the axle clamps from the set. I was going to be damned if I was going to let the $300 sit on the shelf forever. I am now ready to mount these clamps to the axle and was curious as to whether or not there would be any movement when I disconnected the stock clamps. Did you have to do any grinding for just that application? Thanks dude. How's that ride of yours commin' along?? Jack

Hey Jack
Jim is waiting on one little part, which was soposed to come in today but didn't. Since he is heading to Florida tomorow, it looks like next week.
