I have heard of companies regrinding your current ones (use them a cores) but I have not heard of any "GREAT" results. Maby a new inovation has come through in the last few months, but as far as I know, there is not a cam worth it yet.

i e-mailed comp cams and asked them to if they had a cam for our engines. He replied that they don't now but plan on having one in the next 2-4 months.

We've tested a few grinds so far, and the best ones have only gained about 12hp. Nothing so far to write home about. The problem witht the regrinds is that you can only do so much with them. However, within the next month, we will have BRAND NEW cams, not regrinds available. With the new cams, we can have any specs made, so a better grind can be done to work with our trucks. I'll keep everyone posted.

Thumbs down

As Sal said, you can't do that much with a re-grind. You can play a little with the duration, but can't change the lift (or is it the other way around?). Anyway, I have it on good authority (Jay Lincoln) that Erson Cams is going to be coming out with a billet camshaft for our trucks that should make the switch worth doing.

A little news. We got a decent regrind I've done for a few customers, which has been working better than any previous, but it's still a regrind, and you need to use lash caps with it as well as chip adjustments. The NEW cams are about a month away, and once they are ready, we'll check those out, and see if we can come up with an optimum grind.

I spoke with the Erson rep a while back. he did indicate that they were going to be doing their own cores and cams for the 4.6/5.4 fords. He indicated that they wouldn't be out until summer 02'.

Until that only regrinds were available!

The cams that I made having made up, there is know problems with changing the duration or lift. The lift on the stock cams is about .475 or so and my new cams will be .576 on both sides. My specs on the duration is a secret though, but they will be different from stock. I am looking to get an additional 20 peak hp and ** torque

Anyone that is interested in billet cams made specifically for a gen 2 can e mail me and i will give you the phone number of the manufactuer that i am waiting for. They were supposed to be ready by now but there saying another 4 weeks.
Maybe with a few more owners asking when....they will finish them.
I do know they will have two versions with the second version being only somewhat streetable and not meant for daily drivers.
The milder version is being quoted as being worth more than double of any regrind i have heard of at the rear wheels to date and these will retail for around 400.00 each.
