SVTOA? Worth joining?

Hey folks,

Just surfing around, and trying to get more info about the svtoa, and wondering if its worth the 40$ to join. Is there a local chapter in the Louisville/lexington (Kentucky) area?

Lets hear waht you all got to say!

Well, I got a nice red cap, made in Bangladesh, some Herz discount coupons, and a paperback National Speedway Directory, apparently so that the next time I am in Pea Ridge, Arkansas, or Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, I will not have to belabor myself to locate the local racing action. I could not see much value in joining SVTOA until I bumped into (not literally) a fellow Lightning owner who was racing his truck at the CSCC Solo 2 races. He recommended that I check out the local chapter web site http://www.socalsvtoa.com/index.html where I discovered that they sponsored some cool events in this area, including a two day high perfomance driving school at California Speedway on March 9/10 for only 225 clams for members. Local dues only 10 bucks, but found out I had to join National first. No problema, have you priced Bondurant or Barber lately? Had my check in the mail next day. Received my acceptance confirmation, and made my motel reservations. Ordered another pair of wheels so I can run F1s on the rear, and not my 555s. They arrived by FedEX today. I am stoked out of my gourd. So my answer is, its not worth it unless it facilitates your participation in something you really want to do, in which case its worth many times the price.

ignorance

\Ig"no*rance\, n. [F., fr. L. ignorantia.] 1. The condition of being ignorant; the want of knowledge in general, or in relation to a particular subject; the state of being uneducated or uninformed.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but, with statements like

Have you been to an SVTOA on track event? I doubt it

Have you been to a local chapter event? I doubt it

Have you been to even a local chapter meeting? I doubt it

Blind statements that are uninformed is the biggest problem on the web.

The IRP SVTOA event was a blast. Why don't you ask speedin bob about his trips around IRP's road course.

The svtoa is much more than a website. Ford is putting up lots of $ to sponsor a national organization to bring svt owners together.

They are putting up $$ to promote events, races and all kinds of fun stuff.

I don't mean to come off rude, but learn about something before making blind comments.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

Oh, and btw, I am VP of the Cincy Area SVTOA

some of the events will be national events,

some of the events will be organized by whatever local chapter you decide to join,

most local chapters are looking for officers at this time as the organization is still new in development

Lighten up. Everyone is entitled to thier opinion.

easterisland is NOT the only one who finds thier website a little bare. Many of the local giys here only join to run the On Track event because fo the turmoil and perception issues SVTOA is currently experiencing.

But between the Local and National Membership fees and the Ford sponsorship perhaps expectations are high.

Hopefully things will improve

Lighten up. Everyone is entitled to thier opinion.
As am I, which is exactly what I stated

and if you had read my entire post, you would have seen the beginning where i mentioned not meaning to be harsh and at the end apoligizing if i offended anyone.

As with any new organization, the beginning years are always tough.

I never said the website was all that, what i said was is the the SVTOA is much more than just a website.

So I'd appreciate ya lightenen up on me

<------notice the smiley to lighten the mood

Membership received gratis with purchase of the 01, complete with hat, book, etc. Wasn't aware of the drag strip in Pocatello, Idaho (elevation 4500'). Food for thought.

However, the SVTOA seems to support their regional chapters pretty well and are open to their ideas also.

Do I visit the SVTOA website regularly? no Should I? yes

This site contains A LOT of useful insight, constructive information, and downright cool people to get to know just as there is misinformation, petty infighting, rabble rousers, "my tuner's chip can whip your tuner's chip" BS. I could do without the later but tolerate it to a point nonetheless. Goes with the territory I guess.

Back to the topic at hand and in conclusion,

If anyone is aware of an organization that schedules a dyno day, brings in driving instructors, holds various driving technique workshops, autocross, road course hotlap sessions, as well as drag racing in the evening while using YOUR vehicle and maintaining minimal cost ($250 for all the above if I recall), please bestow upon us thy vast knowledge. I'm all ears

Flaming an organization, club, website, etc because they don't suit someone's particular interest is rather immature.

cheers

Bob

I guess I should have said for the great majority of Lightning owners the svtoa is probably a waste of money and time.

No matter how many times you say "not meaning to be harsh" calling some one ignorant is harsh. Of course you also called him blind and uninformed because his opinion differed from yours.

As I have stated so many times before everyone should feel free to express thier opinion but dont attack a fellow member in the process.

Perhaps the reason you percieve that your ***** are being busted is because you make it a point to attack fellow members rather than argue the facts and continually find pleasure in ignoring my requests to NOT market your websites on F150Online and remove the links from your signature. This is my last request.
Your posting rights will be removed if you dont edit your signature to remove the links which violate the vendor rules.

Beef,
Hate to disagree, but I sent my $40 in and haven't heard from them since. I do see Dave Deihl about once a week at work, and he's told me about the local chapter, and I do intend to join it, but the national organization has severely disappointed me.
