Talking These Trucks Are Intimidating!!!

I was driving around Sunday morning, just cruising around enjoyng the weather when I pull up to a stoplight. The ugliest little Miata pulls up next to me. No I like Miatas, I like a lot of Japanese cars, but I hate riced out cars no matter who the original manufacturer is.

Anyway this Miata was lime green, had a spoiler bigger then the last Toyota Supras, had the coffee can exhaust, masking tape ground effects, ugly rims...........you've all seen this guy.

So I am chuckling a little, when the driver throws me a rev. His buddy looks up at me with a big ole' get some grin, and turns to egg the driver on. The passenger then looks back at me and but instead focuses on the Lightning emblem. He then frantically turns to his driver friend shaking his head no. The light turns green and they, very, very easily pulled away.

I couldn't stop laughing. I am not a jerk driver and I don't go looking for races just to be a jerk. I like a little stoplight grand prix now and then when it is safe on an empy road but generally I just like to go out and drive my Lightning for me. But seeing this kid back off so timidly after his friend informed him what he was up against just made for a perfect day.

The moral of the story, these trucks are just as much if not more fun when you drive them slow.

Nice! Miata scared, and you didn't even have to run him. The L name speaks for its self.

Cool MIATA

I found one Miata you have to watch out for. There is a Miata out here with monster emblems on the trunk lid!! It was running out at Rankin one night I swear that thing was in the 10's It beat a twin turbo supra on NOS.. I have never seen one couldn't tell you what it had but it sounded like a v8 with a super charger on it but it was fast and sounded good!!Maybe somebody on here knows what it was it had one small emblem on the trunk that read Monster Miata!!!

Good guess RA6870. Those monster Miatas are equipped with a Ford 5.0 and can be blown.

Exclamation HOW THE HELL!!!!!

Do you get a ford V8 in a rear wheel drive miata the motor is bigger than the car????
But that car was fast it just squatted and took off like a rocket!!!
sounded awesome as it beat everyone it went up against!!
Would have never guess a miata would have ford blood running thru its power plant!!!

YUP!!! It's a 302 alright...........don't know if it's blown or not, but does it really matter? That thing must weigh like 2000 lbs at the most, and with a worked over 302, even without a blower a 10 second pass is achievable on NOS!

I'm sure you can HEAR one of those and not mistake it for a regular Miata at a stoplight though.....

BTW, there's all kinds of Ford/Mazda co-ventures.....Explorer/Navajo, Probe/M6, Ranger/B2000 (I think that's what their p/u is called)

HEy anything's possible

I used to know a guy who would put old Mustang 5.0's into CRx's to race them. Dont know how he ever got past the torque steer issue though.

It did sound good at WOT but when it sat idle it didn't sound that intimidating but looks can be deceiving!!!

It sure was fun watching it run!!

I don't know if Monster Motorsports is still in business (San Diego) or not. But they stuffs Miata with either a 302 (Monster Miata) or a blown 302 (Mega Monster Miata). I've seen a couple of these in person and believe it or not, the 302 looks as if it was designed for that engine compartment from day one. With only 2500 lb, it's like driving a modern Shelby 427 Cobra. Way too much torque for that little chassic but a very cool car that I wouldn't mind having... So many toys, so little time...
