Chances against a 911?

My buddy just got a 1999 Porsche 911. It has 13,000 miles. That is all I know about it. Does anyone have any idea how an L would stack up to it?

If its n/a then you can give it a try but if its a turbo then you'll probably lose. I would run him either way just for the hell of it.

if it's a standard 911 and not a turbo or carrera 4 then you will probably be able to almost keep up untill any corners or stop lights come up.

does not matter if it is a carrera 4 or not. the carrera 4 and the 2's both have the same hp. the C-4 might be a little easier to launch due to its part time 4 wheel drive. but the info i am going on is for a 01. but i think they are the same if i am not mistaken.

either way you should race him. in a drag race you should hold your own. my father has a 01 and it is sort of hard to launch. race him soon before he masters his launching technique!!! lol. but if any turns come about...let off, cause then you will get your butt handed to you. those things can handle. good luck!!

Just race him. It's always fun.

I raced my friends 2001 911 Turbo from 60-120....He walked me pretty good....then again i was in the wrong gear. DOH! Next week I raced him again in his 97 Carrera 4S....I walked him pretty good.

I raced one on the highway from 60mph to about 110mph. He was in front of me, took off and I stayed right on his butt till he tapped the brake lights.

It's a 13.5 car in '02, and in '02 they have more power and are quicker. You should beat him no problem unless he can drive like a pro.

no contest

I race them all the time, albeit on a road course. If its a NA then you have nothing to fear. The turbos are quicker, but a chippenfiltered L should kill them too. You should have them beat up to about 130. After that (assuming they're still with you) they start to walk away.

A twin turbo 911 runs around a 12.3 in the 1/4, bone stock...

Considering the turbos were only produced in 1996,1997, and 2001 (2002 ofcourse)...you shouldn't have a problem with that. If you've got a few mods up your sleeve...you should be good as gold as long as you launch right. You might be determined to just floor it...but I am sure you have already perfected the launch and know what to do. Good Luck! and update us on the race.
