Thumbs up Chip comparo at the dyno

I was hoping to see close to 400 rwhp today. I knew it was a long shot without headers and hi-flo cats. A guy can dream.... can't he? With all the talk of blown engines, I was also worried about my air/fuel ratio. I didn't dyno my race program today because I couldn't find any race fuel or a good additive in time for my appointment. Here's what I got with my street programs on 93 octane pump gas. PSP and JLP chips, both burned only once for my current mods, were tested. Here are the results.

Yeah, I know.......STD numbers are pretty though. Heh Heh! LOL

Here's the real deal:

Run 6 is PSP and 7 is JLP.

Very Nice!! Almost there. Did you get the a/f ratio measured while you were on the dyno? Sorry, they showed up after my post.

GoDogGo,

Yep, they were measured from the exhaust tips while I was making my runs. There's a more accurate way to measure; but, these should be close enough to see any problems.

Here's the SAE numbers broken down at every 100 rpm:

hmmm

i have no engine mods, so i'm not partial to any tuner, but looks like JL is running a little lean at high rpm's

Isn't it kind of hard to do back to back dyno pulls with different chips because of the PCM learning abilities... I know on an 01 it takes a few on/off key cycles plus some miles to fully appreciate a different chip...

Are those the numbers for JUST the chip tuned for 93 octane?

Or is it the chip AND the mods you listed? specifically:
The chips AND
*LFP upper pulley
*JDM Lower Pulley
*Borla cat-back
*PSP filter kit
*JL ram air
*160* thermostat
*LFP Breather Cap
*Denso Iridium Spark Plugs

Spike

JeffsLightning,

When I switched chips, I started and stopped the engine three times and then let it rev at 2000 rpms for 2 minutes before I shut it down. The engine was shut down for 15-20 minutes between each run. I tried to make it as fair a comparison as I could with the time I had. The place wasn't busy so I didn't have to rush anything.

I'm not trying to bash anyone here. If the numbers had been reversed, I would still have posted them in the same manner. I am not going to make any comments on the numbers myself. I am posting them to recieve input and suggestions. I hope this doesn't turn into a problem thread. There is good info here for all of us to benefit from.

Spike Engineering,

Chip and those exact mods. Correct air pressure in the tires also. No "tricks" of any kind to get a better reading than what I drive around with every day. I was checking, not only to see what I have performance wise, but to see if I was driving around with a good program for daily activity.

Actually it does not matter to me which chips you tested. X,Y or Z is not an issue. What ever makes more power that is what counts. I just did not think it was possible to get a true difference on a dyno because the pcm needed more time to FULLY learn the new program. Maybe someone who knows more can give an opinion. Nice numbers also. Thanks for your efforts. Jeff
