Question Is it really worth it??

I have 44,000 miles on my 99L..Ford tells me that it is very important that i have the 30,000 miles service done. From what i understand that it's basically just a intake and fuel service flush. Also it includes changing the fluids, fuel and air filter (which I already have an air raid), and also inspect brakes etc. They didn't give me a definite price but estimated around 500 or more which is a lot for only those few things. This doesn't even include changing the spark plugs...My truck runs fine for 44,000 miles with no problems..The only thing i see thats worth changing is my fuel filter...Has anyone ever had this service done? I know not many of you have reached 30K miles..I feel like i should have this done but just don't know if its really worth it...Any recommendations would help....

Thanks!

Doesn't have to be done at the dealer. Any certified mechanic can perform the service. Just retain all receipts.

When I wrote service for a GM dealership, we pitched the 15,30,and 60k service big time. They are big profit makers for the shop. All the techs love the 30 and 60k's and will fight over them.
They pay roughly 3.5 hrs labor and it takes the tech maybe an hour to do them.(plugs on the ford modulars pay a little more because they're such a pita to change)
If your mechanically inclined, you change all fluids, filters, and inspect all hoses, belts, clamps, brakes etc. They say the plugs go 100,000 miles before needing changed, thats BS! Ive seen them with 8000 miles and needed replaced!
It looks good on you though when you bring your truck to the dealer with drivetrain trouble and they pull up your file and it shows you had all the services done at an authorized dealer. I have seen GM and NISSAN replace engines and trannys when the warranty was over due to being over 36,000 miles! Just because they had all services done on their cars at the dealership. Its your call. Keep all your receipts and mileage at time of services if you do them yourself. Hope this helps.

Dont do it, you could do most things yourself, especially if you keep checking everything yourself. some items you can get another place to do cheaper, cheaper not meaning less quality. Ford got me with that 30k program, charged me $700.00, worst money spent on basically nothing that was done in 1.5 hours.

The "30k service " is complete bullsh*t. We used to sell these services at our dealer and the customer pays and ungodly amout of money for a glorified oil change. At 30,000 miles I would reccomend getting your trans fluid changed coolent changed and fue filter replaced. All that other stuff is horsesh*t. I would however reccomend getting this done at your dealer for the simple fact that if 3 months from now if you blow the motor and have no extended warrenty they might tell you to screw off. If your a good customer and have the truck maintaned at the dealer they usually dont pull warrenty voiding b s and usually will help good customers out even if he or she is out of warrenty.
Just some advice.
