bnehila i have the same problem with my SVO S/B. when i get on the throttle it will hold up at higher RPM's and somtimes not come down unless i turn the truck off. when i put the stock T/B on it runs perfect but still throws a lean code. i thought it might be a vacuum leak but can't find one either. im going to put the SVO back on now that i have a Predator and data log the TPS and other things that may help me figure out the problem.

How would I cure the surging on a 2004+ F-150 (5.4L 3v) (sorry to revive the thread but I'm incredibly frustrated and I've posted here to no availability.

If you try a search on accufab I think they had some throttleplates that needed to be adjusted to work right. They had a binding problem you needed to loosen the throttleplate (blades) screws to adjust. hope this helps!Originally Posted by bnehila
I put a accufab single blade TB on my 04 L and with the TPS set to .99 , the idle is too high. changing the set screw doesnt do anything. if u tap the idle, it will rev to 1100 rpms for about 5 secs and then goes back down. shifts diferently and not as hard. put the stck one back on and the truck runs fine. can anyone help or anyone had the same problem.

Hey Guys,
After 2 days of defeat I'm ready to give up.
My motor had a surge to it @ idle. I checked and adjusted the TPS from 1.2 down to .997. I guess I forgot to tighten the lock nut around the idle screw and thats when everything went to the dogs. After driving 60 miles the idle worked its way up to 1300. I adjusted the set screw back down and made sure it was locked this time, re adjusted the voltage got it @ .997, disconnected the battery for 20 mins
Now the shift points are all off. What can I do to fix this?
Oh yeah I can only get 4.66 @WOT
.997 closed
4.66 WOT
700 rpm's @ idle
Big Thanks to BABOLT and Clonetek for the time spent on this thread so dummies like me can ask more questions
Thanks Guys

I installed a FTVB and the shift points were really off. Found the TPS code. Didn't screw with it, got a new Motorcraft TPS for $38 and installed it. The readings were
.99 and 4.99. Went for a test drive and it drove like a new truck.

I've read all of the information everyone has written here about the TPS. I was told by a mechanic that the TPS is my problem. When I start my 98 F150 in the morning it kills unless I keep my foot on the gas. After one or two revs, or sometimes a few miles down the road it will begin to idle as it is supposed to. Out of 5 people asked, I received 15 different answers. Does anyone know if the TPS would be causing this problem? It sounds logical, but don't want to spend a few cents here and a few cents there, chasing my tail to only spend a few hundred and still have the same problem. If anyone can help or even point me in the direction to go it would be greatly appreciated.

so is .99 and under and 4.5-5.0 at WOT the specs for all cars and truck or just for the F150? If not where can I get the specs for other ford cars and trucks.
