Slicks & tubes??

Ok with my ET-Streets I did not use a tube. My guy says some need them some dont. With these 28x10x16 SLICKS, are you guys planning on using a tube or not? Any opinions?

I thought with all slicks you had to run tubes. I'm running tubes in my et's with the tires screwed to the rim. I'm wondering if the same tube can be used with the 28". I would think so because I used to work at a SuperShops and we would blow up tubes behind the store until they got as big as tractor tires.

With a true slick yopur going to have to run a tube, its safe that way any way. plus this way you can screw your rims to the tire so they don't slip either.

Yeah I just dont know if I want to screw the tire to my wheels. Id hate to drill those..

I know some guys that run slicks without them. I guess it depends on the wheels & how low of pressure you want to run...

ICULOKN:

Did you get your hoosier slicks yet. I'm thinking about just running those with the 16 inch rims myself too. For one the 15" conversion are allot of cash that I could use on some other parts and for two, I don't want to really grind my brakes up either.

Post some pics of those so we can see them, I'm dieing to see how wide they are.

Also, what size rims are you runnin. I like the way your rims look the best out of all the others and you can get those pretty cheap too! I'm going to order a set of those myself I think, front and back. ultra 50/51 right?

I have never used tubes in my Street ET's, however check your air often. With slicks on 15" wheels I'm going to tube and screw them.

Joe,

Ok here is what I plan to do. Last year I ran a 16x8 up front with a 225/65/16 tire & the rear had a 16x10 with a 26x11.50x16 ET Street. The overall tire height on the front and rear was 26.1. The ET's were 10.3 actual tread width.

This year I want to run the 16x8's up front with a 235/70/16 (our stock spare size) and the 16x10's in the rear with the 28x10x16. The overall tire height will be 28.1 and the back tires being true slicks are 10.3 in actual tread width.

I am going to go up there now and get them..... Ill post pics when I return!!!
