With the boost dump bypassed, the sensor will never see boost under any condition. Nothing will "trigger" because the condition that normally causes the dump cannot be replicated.

Ok, think about it this way.

Your PCM self checks relays, Yes? no? maybe?
Believe it or not the change of state is a form of FEEDBACK to the PCM. If you have the boost bypass electronic plug in, the computer still sees feedback on the relay. If you have it unplugged it thinks the relay is failed, Hince the check engine or SES light.

I would rather have my computer think the RELAY is failed than to try to activaite it. My thoughts only, your $25 mod will work the same but that is the reason you get a SES light....

to try to activaite it.
It will never try to activate it. It can't because it will never sense the condition that would normally cause it to be activated.
your $25 mod
I wouldn't and didn't pay $25 for it.

If it never trys to activate it we wouldnt be having this mod would we? Even if you do the JDM boost bypass kit or make your own. The RELAY can still be activated under high tranny temp or over rev. Yes nothing with boost may happen, but I dont even want my RELAY activated! I want it failed!!

I do not think you are right on this statement. I believe with the bypass kit ALL boost dump functions are gone...

With a bypass kit, the only thing taken out of the equation is the vacuum/boost line going into the sender/sensor.

I should have been a little clearer. The boost dump function that allows boost to be bypassed in the event of over acceleration(pcm determined) AND rev-limiter exceedence will be non-existant with the boost bypass kit...

Exactly...

No electronics are bypassed....

Does anyone know for sure if the boost bypass ever comes in to limit acceleration (like a poor man traction control) assuming the temp is fine. I have seen a few posts implying this but I have never experianced it. I run a 5" analog vac/boost gauge all the time.

It does seem to come into the part throttle shifts to soften the bang when you lift right before the shift (but only if the torque reduction is turned on). When you over rev. When you over heat.

see http://www.teamjdm.com/id123.htm

It aparently is a plug this line...Tee this line... type thing and you leave the electroncs connected so that the computer never knows.
My suggestion is why don't you just call JDM and ask them what it really does instead of listening to opinions.

All I can say is it works

Angry

What a confusing post! I'll save my $25 and unplug the damn thing. Besides my instrumet panel is getting kind of boring. If the SES light comes on it will look more like Christmas. Won't reseting the PCM just clear the soft code?

Thank you. So I can save the $25 and buy a few beers and stand around in my garage after I finish disconnecting one wire and drink until I fall down.
