Ok, No laughing!

Two Things:

Can you order another set of the owners guide and cover? I was going to open it, but stopped when my wife said that we may want to keep it wrapped in plastic.

The other item is can I turn over the beeping seat belt sign? I looked yesterday for any info and could not find. I don't care if it flashes, but that beeping about every 2 minutes is driving me crazy.

Thanks

Funny I was thinking about doing the same thing but decided heck with it. You should be able to order a new manual.

As for the beeping there is a way to disable it permanently but I would have to look it up in my manual and I don't have it with me now. (So I was told by my salesman). You can also just push the release button and it will stop it. Best safest way to turn it off is put on your seatbelt. This is the method I use. Hope this helps.

Funny thing about the beeping. DL truck does it and mine doesn't. That would drive me NUCKIN FUTZ! There's gotta be a way to bypass it.

There is a way to disable the seat belt. I've got it somewhere. Give me a sec and I'll put it up (I've done it, it works)

OK, Here goes:

Permanent Deactiviation:

Before doing the following, make sure that:

The parking brake is set.
The car is in Park.
The ignition is OFF.
All doors are closed.
The driver's safety belt is un-buckled.
The parking and headlights are OFF.

Then follow these 9 steps:

1) Turn the ignition switch to ON, but DO NOT START.

2) Wait for the safety belt warning light to go OFF (1-2 min.)

STEPS 3-5 MUST BE COMPLETED WITHIN 60 SECONDS!!

3) Buckle, then un-buckle the safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.

4) Turn on the headlights, turn off the headlights.

5) Buckle, then un-buckle the driver's safety belt 3 times, ending with the belt un-buckled.

AFTER STEP 5, THE SAFETY BELT WARNING LIGHT WILL BE TURNED ON FOR 3 SECONDS.

6) Within 7 seconds of the safety belt warning light turning OFF, buckle then un-buckle the safety belt.

THIS WILL DISABLE THE BELT MINDER IF IT'S CURRENTLY ENABLED, or ENABLE THE BELT MINDER IF IT'S CURRENTLY DISABLED.

7) Confirmation of the disabling of the belt minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per second for 3 seconds.

8) Confirmation of the enabling of the belt minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the safety belt light off, then followed by flashing the safety belt light 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.

9) After confirmation, the deactiviation/activation of the belt minder is complete.

Sounds crazy, but I know it works!

Chris

I actually believe it. If this were any other website, I would have my doubts, but I trust the info I receive on here. Thanks for the help and will give it a try tonight.

Lightbulb

Or, you can do like 'ol Franko figured out.....

When the beep starts........use your right hand and push the red button on the belt receptacle. That will disable the beep until the next engine start-up.......

This works on my Blue '02 anyway

Franko

You can also have the dealer shut it off with the NGS or WDS scan tools. Might be more convienent if your in for some work.

Been doing fire and rescue for over 34 years now, one thing that stands out in a vehicle accident, those that wear belts and those that wished they had, with very few exceptions.
Since I am trying to set an example for my children, I wear it ALL the time while driving.

On the other hand, I too am annoyed when I am trying to run the engine while I work on some in the cab items or under the hood work and hear that annoying reminder sound.

The manual for my '02 describes it exactly as Cherring stated. I also deactivated the F)(**(g automatic door locks. Even though i have the code to get in with the electonic key pad, it really irks me to have my doors lock unless I say so. I must be a control freak, so sue me.

My psych. keeps telling me I'm not invincible either...I laugh and say of course not, stupid! It's only when I wear the Superman costume that I'm invincible!

Jeez, what a moron! I can't be seen in that costume 24/7! It would ruin my secret identity! DUH!
