On the motor or on the bottle
On the motor or on the bottle
I drive my L daily but I'm looking for some more power for the track. I've been considering a few different approaches to this. The first is to do it all on the motor, this includes adding alot more boost. The other is with some mild engine mods, ie 90mm maf, cold air intake and chip and a 75-100 shot of nitrous. I don't want to affect the reliability and driveabilty of my truck. Nitrous would allow me to have the added performance only when I need it. Any thoughts? I don't need 500hp to get to work, only when some Chevy pulls up next to me.
Well I would definetly consider the nitrous then, but you do realize that spraying nitrous is some abuse to a motor.
Honestly I would run an adjustable upper pulley that you could swap out for more or less boost in your case. A nice exhaust system with long tube headers would give you power but totatly not effect the reliability of the truck. A good intake would be another mod that would increase performance but not effect the truck to much. And definetly do a PSP factory tech shift kit, it will save your tranny!
Try this site and give them a call too to ask them about there adjustable upper pulley's, talk to paul. They said they can make pulleys from 1 to 5 PSI for the blower. www.SCperformance.com.
I think running a lower 2lb pulley would be a great mod for you then, it would give you some extra boost but nothing thats to harsh.
Don't think that I knock the nitrous, I love it and I use it with a 4lb lower and 2lb upper pulley on my truck. Its just that the nitrous is probably not the best way you want to go, atleast not a 100 shot. I would stick to a 50 to 75 shot and run a smaller pulley also.
Good luck.
