This list only proves my point..there is only one guy in the top ten that is not a tuner who has an 01. Tuners do NOT repesent the average L of any year and 01's are not faster when modded than 99-00's as you will see this season, the 99-00,s are just as capable of 11's as the 01's,the difference is only in how many mods you have and what weight you run.

We can all come up with examples:
14. Crazy Carl --------- 1.759 60', 12.261 @ 109.49 MPH (2001, Black) CFLDT
15. TimBurntire -------- 1.739 60’, 12.269 @ 110.70 MPH (1999, Black) CFLTWPDSEMKVGH

4 mods on the '01 compared to 14 on the 99, yet the '01 is quicker, which seems to be the case when you browse all of the 12 & 13 second cars.

As far as the 11 second cars, there are 8 of them, 2 '01s, neither have NOS. There are 2 non-'01s without NOS, and the rest of the '99-'00 have NOS.

This post isn't meant to say one is faster than the other. However, in most cases, with a few exceptions, the '01-'02 is quicker, mod for mod. That's a given with more hp/tq to start out with and a shorter final drive.

Thanks for all the input guys! The main problem I have with the list is it's got pulley listed, but is that a 10lb pulley or a 2lb pulley!? You can't tell and it makes a BIG difference. I'm just trying to decide basically if they were around the same price if I should get a 99 w/ low miles or an 01 with higher miles. :-/ Looks like I can't go wrong either way.

Thanks!

DamonH,

I went my best pass so far with a JL Chip/3lb lower/JL RAM AIR/JL Filter kit & ET Street's. I got a 12.50 @ 109 with that combo.

ICKULON, i meant exactly what it says...only one [01 L] in the top ten that is not a tuner and tuners do not represent what an average L of any year runs.

2001 lightning, this list does not show who has composite leaf springs, lightweight roll pans, lightweight rims, removed seat, tailgate, sway bars, gas tanks ,hitch, spare and on and on. In other words it doesn't tell the whole story of who has 8-9 k worth of mods and who has 3k worth and is completely useless in this discussion. I will ask again..does your 01 run 12.79 108.97 with a chip, filter and et streets on 93 pump gas and no other mods? As i said before the 01's come semi chipped and you only get so much out of adding a chip and the 99-00's close the gap on h.p because you gain more with a chip than you do on an 01.

ub fast - i really don't care to argue whether the 99-00 are faster than the 01-02 or the other way around. I don't think there's anyway to show you that when compared mod for mod that 95% of the 01-02s will be faster. Maybe they won't, maybe it's only 70%. You're right about not knowing who has what as far as extra mods, you never know. I won't even ask to see the #'s of the gain on a chip for a 99-00 compared to the same chip for a 01-02, i'm sure maybe someone has it. (and when are you going to get a pulley, you should run faster than anyone on the board mod for mod?) Looks like the overall point, which the person who introduced this thread got is that either way, he's going to get one bad machine!

It will be converted into an HTML table (sortable) in the next few weeks. A few of the mods will also be expanded. (I.e suspension, exhaust, etc.)

The 01's computers are tweaked, therefore they don't respond as well to chipping as a 99-00. My 00 ran 12.79 108.97 with a chip and filter+ et streets,no pulleys. How many 01's run this time with these mods?answer, none that i no of. I do think that the 01's seem to respond to pulleys better than the 99-00's.
My aluminum driveshaft has been awesome!!! I have well over 100 passes on mine with zero problems. They have got a bad name because of people not running traction bars which causes axle wrap that leads to them breaking.

Wink

So if I took my 2000, installed all the "differences" that are on the 01-02's, then my truck would still be slower

Another thing is that all times are not created equal. Altitude, pressure and temp. vary greatly on all these runs.
That's why it is great to see everyone in St. Louis at WFC. Lots of Beer, Good Guys and Lightnings from all over.

P.S. The worst my 99 ever ran Stock was 13.6 On a Hot day in the Midwest.

So the moral of the story is this: The 99 owners think that the 99's are the best The 00 owners think that the 00's are the best The 01 owners think that the 01's are the best And you can figure what the 02 owners think! But for me, when I had my 99, I thought it was the BEST After I traded it for my current 01, Iam sure it's a better truck than my 99 And after I trade my 01 for a new multi-valve, new body style Lightning, Iam sure I will think IT'S THE BEST
