Hey HIVOLTAGE, welcome to the board!

I got the Magnaflow 14468 (stainless) and it sounds awsome! It has about 800 miles on it now and it has really mellowed out. It is a little louder than stock at idle and cruising, but when the hammer drops it opens up and sounds killer! But it is not too loud. If you are looking for a less expensive exhaust upgrade ($150 vs. $800) then the Magnaflow is the one to go with. And you can either retain or replace your existing tips. I kept mine.

Here is a clip of my truck on the dyno making the magnapacks scream to redline:

This is alot of great information. Is there a web site for Magnaflow, where do you buy them? As far as Flowmaster or any others, are these mufflers designed specifically for the L? Are they a single muffler with two inlets and outlets or two mufflers? Don't know as much about the Ls yet like my mustangs but I'm learnin! What is the approximate cost of a cat-back system vs just the mufflers? Any body had warranty issues because of the exhaust mods?

I've got a Flowmaster 50 series & it is VERY loud when you punch it...I love it. When I race I try to be on their left so I can BLAST 'EM. Great for when ricers rev you also...I did it to one guy & he literally swerved over (wife hates it by the way - - which tells you how cool it is)

Just called Flowmaster and the guy was very quick to say "we don't make anything for THAT truck, the setup is weird on that truck and we don't have anythiong for it yet" and then he offer to send me a catalog. Is it the type of thing you just have to get the muffler shop to make it work? Your 50 series - is it one muffler or two?

I decided to do one - - I've heard that some guys have two. It doesn't line up perfectly with the existing pipes. The guy who did mine used a different tube that had a different bend in it so it would line up. He showed me how it would work. The whole process took less than hour & a half.

Yelled at!

HiVoltage

Not really "yelled at". For instance, if you were to ask who makes the best chip for the L, members sometimes get"testy" and will tell you to do a search, which you will feel like saying sometimes if you're here long enough. With new owners coming in you'll see the same question pop up periodically. and there are days when you feel like"oh no, not again", but remember that we were all newbies at one time and so few of us are real experts. There are some real slick people here who have their poop together with these trucks. Always be patient. No one has ever dissed me here and when I've seen it done it's done for a reason and politely. I like this site and I see it growing fast. Of all the one's I've been to this is by far the busiest and the best. By the way, who makes the best chip and pullies for the L??? :>) lol
BTW, I was thinking of Magnaflow but I want pretty loud and don't know which one to get. Sure I'd rather spend 400 vs 700. I want loud but not arrest me loud.

I guess here's what I want; a muffler that will sound better than stock with a good mean sound to it that is made for a lightning so I don't have to cut up/weld pipes and stuff. I would also like to replace the tips with some chrome - I can tell the stock ones are going to tarnish very quickly. I don't think I want to go with a complete cat-back replacement. BTW other than this site, is there a mag or anything like MM&FF about lightning products. Sorry - another question that has prob. been asked before but if you don't want to answer don't!
