I had my filter located where Joe has his on my blown 96Z28. The only issue I had his water spray and dirt on the filter. With a scoop down there and the filter in the engine compartment it seems to block some of the dirt reaching the filter within the tube. However, it's a nice setup for racing.

That thing is FUGLY. Looks like $H!T with that bad weld job showing. Dont like how it looks like a 3 year old pieced it together. I will wait for Mike's(BABOLT) his stuff is top quality and way better looking.
