Does anyone use any fuel additives in their L?

Just curious if its safe to use fuel injector cleaner in our trucks?
I was gonna use some chevron techron additive but don't know if it would help or hurt my truck...A buddy told me its good to use injector cleaner once a month...But how the Heck would he know what i should put in my L.. ..

I use the NOS Fuel Additive as a safegaurd sometimes. Autozone has it. It comes in a street (3-point added) and a off road (7-point added) formula. It is safe for sensors & convertors. Only thing it does is make the plugs have a rust or discolored look.

99Zeus rtrns, I bought Zmax oil, fuel and ATF additives and was wondering the same thing. If you read the hype on this Zmax stuff you would think it's the greatest thing in the world. I have not used it yet and was wondering if anyone has any opinions on it one way or the other.

I'm not much on additivies and normally run from them, but I've been using the Chevron stuff (for the Techron) for the last several years with great results. I currently use it about every 5k miles to keep everything in shape.

I've recommended it to several friends over the years, and the only ones who haven't noticed an improvement were those who had a fuel system which was already/still in good shape.

As a former Miamian(born-n-raised there--back in the good ol' days-LOL), please don't use zmax. I've read a FTC case against them somewhere--it doesn't 'work' and some of it is harmful to your eng. Forgive my vague comments--I just don't remember the specifics. Do a www.google.com search on it.

There are a few additives I trust and use--Regain or Sea Foam(good combustion chamber cleaners) and VIP fuel inj. cleaner. These three will clean injs and so will Chevron's Techron. Believe it or not, but Marvel Mystery Oil is useful in the fuel tank and in the oil just before you change it.

Thanks LIGHTNINROD! I will take your advise and return this zmax to PepBoys. Yep old MM oil has been around for as long as I can remember. My dad always used it in his gas and oil also. I had forgotten about it.

I've dumped in a can twice so far, one after the first oil change, and once after it being in the shop for 11 days with the same 1/4 tank of gas! I used the 104+ Boost, and this 0-60 Boost I found in Walmart..................I think the truck reacted well to both.....

I sincerely doubt these would ever hurt.......help, maybe, but definitely not hurt.

Tallimeca, FWIW I used Rislone religiously in what is now my beater car, a 1987 EXP. I had to tear it down at 110,000 to replace a head gasket (broken head bolt, probably since it left the assembly line from the looks of it) and found that to be the cleanest engine that I have ever taken apart. I owned the car since it had 7400 miles on it, and did oil changes with the small bottle of Rislone every 4000 miles. I have since made the switch to synthetics and no longer use it, but if I ever go back to dino oil I will.
