Diablo Chip and 3#Pulley
Diablo Chip and 3#Pulley
I have an 01 L and am getting paranoid from all the thread about the problems with them blowing up. I have 8K miles and have a Diablo chip with a 3# pulley and an airkit. I am running stock plugs and have seen that maybe I should change them. If I get rid of the chip and just run the pulley, and airkit, do I still need to do the plugs? My truck seemed faster light to light stock. Out of the hole, I could mash on the gas and it would just hook up and go! With all these mods it just seems to shift hard and burn rubber! What do you guys think?

For goodness sake......Change the plugs.....its the single most inexpensive insurance you can buy for your engine........Make darn sure the plugs are tight.....go back now and again to check the tightness of the plugs............Keith
Btw.......change the plugs and keep the pulley.......and the chip!!!

I don't think you are thinking 'straight'. With the combonation you have(and your fear) you should drop the pulley not the chip. If you run with a pulley and air filter kit you have increased the boost--with no chip, you will be running way too lean.

Ok, Here is a friendly reply to this....
I agree, too much power can make these things break. Now what is to much power? Who really knows? I have talked to many motor guys that say STOCK they should handle close to 18-20 PSI with everything working right. Are they right? We have seen motors let loose at 10-16psi. I guess some are better than others.
Now stock plugs not being a problem?? THATS BULLSH$$!!! With any NOS system you are suppose to run cooler plugs, with any BLOWER your doing the same thing as NOS and you are suppose to run a cooler plug with Higher Boost as well. A plug can cause, Bent Valves, Burnt Valves, Holes in Valves, Burnt or Holes in Pistons, and the biggest thing it could do is break a rod. Ever heard of a Liquid locked motor? Something similar could happen. A piece of a plug that falls onto a cyl. wall could easily lock a piston up long enough to make the LONG stroke of our motors BREAK a rod. It does not take much to for things like this to happen. Based on some of the pics of plugs that have been posted, there have been some good pieces of metal going down in these motors. Just my little thoughts......
