Enuff talk about Blown Motors, Let talk about the good side of it.....

Ok, We all know the things that have made some motors let go. Lets talk about how many off us have had good things, or how long your motor has been ok with what mods you have.

My story....

Ran from Day one- 13.68 @ 102 Bone Stock Best ET
@ 1200 Miles
Went to Chip/Ram Air/Filter - 13.10 @ 105 Best ET

From 1200 - 7000 miles
Chip/Ram Air/Filter/Line valve/ NGK's/3lb - 12.50 @ 109 Best ET

From 7000- Current Miles
Chip/Ram Air/Filter/Line valve/ Denso's/6lb/ Bassani Cat Back - Havent had a good pass due to traction problems...

My truck gets drove hard all the time. I love the thing. I change my oil about every 3 or 4 weeks. Not based on miles. Based on how hard I run it. Only problem I have had is breaking my drive shaft due to power & improper pinion angle!!! I have had many 1/4 mile track & street passes with this baby!!!

Now any others care to share good mod and care info???

By the way, My JL DIABLO chip has been in from start to finish....
If something lets loose I will NOT blame in on JL or Diablo.

What is the theory of spark plugs causing blown engines?

Modded + driven hard + no blown engine = happy me

topsy - spark plugs can fail leaving cylinders to lean which can grenade, tips of spark plugs can fall off and you don't want any piece of metal clanking around ontop a piston

Bubba,

I dont know why your so bitter to my posts. I was asking this post to be a good post not any bad talk. To back my problem, I had 4 deg shims to make my pinion angle right with my loweringkit, then I added 2 more deg to give it alittle negative to help with the axle wrap. Since you want to talk about being smart enough, I was smart enough to run my truck in the 1/8th and 1/4 mile only like it was setup & tuned for. Not top end 140-150 MPH blasts for long periods of time. Lets keep this post on the positive side for people with good luck, you have had your blown motor posts, MANY of them.....

My motors been good to me since day one. Never a peep out of her, and thats the way I hope it will be this entire year.

37K and those are some of the hardest 37K on the street and racing.

Still going strong.

Thats cool, and I really am sorry that yours let loose. I hate to see anyone have problems. Hell if mine goes the damn truck will sit until I can pay to fix it. My license plate use to say PAY2PLY, thats what I do. I like to play, so I pay. Taking care of anything is a big part as well. In a nut shell alot of people dont, You sound like you did, thats great. Again man nothing against you personally, i try to take a overview of all the blown motor posts then make a call. Best of luck in getting yours straight. I guess right now I am lucky mine is still together.....

One thing that bothers me is:
How many people on this board have said they blew a motor with anyone other than JL or PSP? I dont think there is anyone. Thats funny to me because when I have went to many races and there have been plenty of guys talking about JDM stuff as well. I hate to see anyone getting blamed.
