Question Best ATF

Should I stick with stock Mercon or go with a synthetic? Also what is a total fill on a 4r100? 14 quarts? thanks Jeff

unless your planning on having the tranny completely flushed, stick with stock Mercon.

Mixing the two is not a good idea.

There are varying opinions on this as to 'which is better.' Stock Mercon for me.

Not sure on the total capacity.

I thought some guys here have had excellant results with synthetic. With the plug in the torque convertor I think we can get most of the old fluid out... Just thought I would check. I do have a B&M pan so the draining of the pan is easy... thanks

I have run Mobile 1 synthetic since 1k miles, I now have 14k. My truck has performed excellent with no transmission problems I took mine to one of the quick change oil places where they used a machine that completely pumps out all the old and fills it with the new. Sorry but I don't remember how many quarts it took.

It works just don't drag race it.Fine for open road and open track actually better because of the anti fricton properties.Shifta are a little softer but less loss in HP and runs cooler.Stan

I have always been a "Motorcraft Mercon" kinda guy myself, but I heard an engineer who I have a lot of respect for say Mobil 1 is the best there is.
