Thumbs up Lower End Packages Now Available

Power Surge Performance is pleased to announce that we finally got our lower end packages completed and ready for order.

The package includes the following parts:

CP custom power adder pistons (8.5:1, thicker dish and pin areas, exclusive ring land design)
Manley H-beam connecting rods
Plasma Moly ring set
Performance bearing set (rod and main)
ARP Main studs
ARP Head studs
High Volume oil pump kit

This is what you need for a very strong bottom end. We suggest buying a new Ford block and new Ford crank. Both are very strong, and not expensive at all from the dealer. We can supply the kit with stock, .020 and .030 size pistons.

The above list of parts retials normally for over $2000. We are selling our kit for $1899.00. With a new Ford block and crank, you can have the parts for a complete short block for around $2500.

As a side note, these are NOT the same rods Manley is selling for $400 on thier site. I found out those rods are being liquidated because they are poorly balanced sets. Supposedly they vary as much as 8 grams from rod to rod, where as normal sets only vary 1-2 grams. Just FYI.

Sounds good Sal but one question... If the block isnt ventilated from a previous rod issue why are you suggesting changing the crank and block ??

I thought I heard the stock crank was STRONG .....

And a followup: What is the difference between the stock ( existihg ) block and the new ones that are "Both are very strong, and not expensive at all from the dealer"
Thanks in advance
Doug

I would like to know why a 2001 block costs $200 more than the 2000 and prior block. Is the 2002 block different than the 2001?
Why did you go with a 8.5 to 1 compression instead of lower or higher? What type of bolts go with the rods? What size pin, stock 22mm?

I called manley about the rods and the salesman said they were overstocked...

Sal, If we where to buy the kit from you and also buy a block and crank, do you offer a service of putting it all together and balancing the motor. I would like to do that if its possible. How much would you charge?

Doug, what I meant was buy a new OEM block and crank from Ford, not something "new" as in different. It's just easier that way, because then you can have your motor built at the same time you are still driving around in your truck. Plus, what you would spend on the block and crank is close to what you'd spend on machining the old parts for new pistons and bearings.

11secL, I estimate these components should be good for close to 850-900hp.

Easter, I came across this too, and I have been contacted by several other engine building companies asking what the difference is. The truth is, I honestly don't know. I used a new 99 block for the new motor in my 01, and I couldn't spot any noticeable difference comparing the two. The CR is based off a stock piston (actually .1 higher, stock is 8.4:1). That is the stock replacement configuration. I can have a custom piston made in any CR you want. Manley rods come standard with ARP bolts. As for the pin size, we are selling the stock pin size in the set up. I spoke to several mod motor builders and was told the stock size is fine and also allows for thicker piston area around it.

Joe, I am working on a price for built short blocks. I've had MANY requests for this, so I'm working on it. Should have some pricing shortly.

Where did you get this information? I'd like to confirm it.

Flash, I'd rather not say the name of the place, since they are a very large Manley distributor, and I don't want to get them in any trouble. I mentioned the rod thing to them, and that's what I was told. The guy said he was very surprised that Manley doesn't have that listed on the site. It's not like those rods are junk, or not usable, they are just not as well balanced. Since lots of guys here were showing interest in getting those, I wanted to make it known. I'm sure Manley will deny it, after all, they are trying to
SELL them .

Talking

Oh, man! It's time to get out the ski mask again.
I don't need to be quicker than Andre, just quicker than Chuck.
I understood that the 5.4 block was suppose to be "stifened" in 02 or 03. Wonder if that has happened. If so might not be a bad idea to get a new block if you have a 99. If they don't build an 03 this is the way to go anyway.

Is that right off the crank, or wheels?
