Gen 1 mileage
Hey, anybody have a Gen 1 with more than 211,000 mile on it? Mine burns about a half a quart of oil every 3000 miles (oil change interval since new) and runs just as strong as new. Best time was a 15.3 at Ennis a couple of years ago. Only time I ran it on a drag strip. It has seen several laps around Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, Talledega GPR, Memphis Motorsports Park and Summit Point Raceway. Used to scrape up crashed race bikes with it when I wasn't racing them myself. Anyway, it's a great truck with the only major malfunction being a tranny at 135,000 miles. Just curious if anybody has more miles with fewer problems.
You know these things can take a lickin and keep on tickin. I've got 181,500 miles on mine now, still on the stock block. Only thing touched was a new upper intake (after I blew out the EGR tube on the old one). It consumes very minor amounts of oil (maybe 1/4-1/2 qt per oil change) and still runs a 14.75, and 93MPH
It's a black 1993, #4317.

Yeah, looks like 200,000 miles is about all the stock manifolds are good for. Just replaced mine a couple of months ago. Anybody want the old one? I don't know anyone talented enough to weld it back up!!!
Mine has 145,000 on it and I've never had a problem w/ it. Oh wait, I did replace the battery after I bought it w/ 70,000 on the odometer and I do detect a exhaust leak at the cats. Thats with the stock exhaust system though, so I guess 145,000 on stock exhaust isn't bad. I just hope the 00 last that long w/ as few problems.
Mine cracked out just above the flange that mates to the lower manifold. It cracked about 3/4's of the way around. Took it to a welding shop and they couldn't fix it without doing a big Frankenstien job on it. Beseides that and a couple of water pumps, the engine has never been apart. There's a kid offering me $7000 for the truck. I wonder if I should take it?
