Cool Nitto NT-555R

Has anyone tried Nitto's 305/45R18 all around? Is the stock 9.5" rim wide enough? My son runs Nittos on his Stang and swears by them. I've got 10K on my '01 L and need tires. Sh**, I thought I was too old to have this much fun! But then, boomers don't follow any rules anyway.

Dennis:

You need tires at 10,000 miles? Dammitboy! You've got a heavy foot!

Masterloggie has Nittos all around on his 00L--d/k if they're 305s or 315s?

Nitto 555R's are like erasers. 5,000 mi would be your avg. life with those

Get the regular Nitto 555's for a daily driver. They kick mucho ***.

Boxer,
Stop by when you're down in this area. I'll buy you a Dos Equis!
Maybe we could race!!!

Thanks Master,
Maybe I'll try the 295 555's. These F1's just aren't very sticky in the winter. I got sideways the other night and stayed in it but to no avail. I don't think I impressed anyone either.

Exclamation

I wouldn't recommend the 555Rs as daily drivers. They are going to wear out in no time, they won't grip at all in the rain or snow, and they don't handle very well, sidewalls are too flexible. Get 555s for the street, and save your Rs for the strip (R stands for "race").

I'm sure the 404 extremes are good tires but I wouldn't go taller than 45 and I want at least a 295. That's why I was 1st looking at the 555R in 305's. When I paint stripes I want em to be wide!
